Coast Sushi Bar — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

With the multitude of sushi restaurants that exist everywhere, this one was a real disappointment. Looks like a place that had better days some time ago but it is no longer the case. We can appreciate dark as in romantic but this place was extremely dark...the unattractive menu was very hard to read because it was so dark. We were served by a waitress that was completely unprofessional, and definitely uninterested to do this job. She did not smile even once and could not explain the complicated menu that was unreadable anyway . She also forgot one of the appetizers we ordered.. Food was just ok but nothing more. The atmosphere was rather unpleasant. Some tables were very noisy and service was non-existent. Bad experience unfortunately. We can’t recommend this restaurant to anybody and surely won’t return. This restaurant should look at what’s wrong with it and try to fix it if they wish to save it...

My dinner at Coast was a delightful journey through the flavors of sushi and Japanese cuisine. Despite decades since its opening in the 90s, Coast continues to excel.

We indulged in an array of dishes, including Toro, Unagi, Dragon Roll, Oshinko Roll, and Ikura pieces. The standout was undeniably the Toro, with its unparalleled tenderness and melt-in-the-mouth deliciousness. The owner's guidance added depth to our culinary adventure, emphasizing the freshness and origin of the flown-in Japanese fish.

Noteworthy was the authentic preparation methods, such as the use of genuine eel sauce for the Unagi and house-made wasabi from real root, elevating the dining experience to a new level of authenticity.

WORST SUSHI I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I have had a lot of sushi in my life, but none has ever been this BAD! Plan on paying a lot of money for Cucumber, because there was absolutely no flavor or fish/shrimp/crab in any roll. There wasn’t a single Asian in the restaurant who was making the sushi rolls. Save your time and money and go elsewhere! Also the service was HORRIBLE! Plan on waiting 20minutes before your server finally takes your order after signaling her that you’re ready to order. We had asked for hot water to feed our baby some formula, so she comes back 5 minutes later and brings a class of ICE COLD WATER.
