My sister and her boyfriend recently visited me in town, and they wanted to grab some souvenirs before heading to O’Hare. I would have typically taken them to the location in Andersonville, but I am glad we were in a time crunch because we found this location closer to us! (The highway is a sneeze away, so if you’re just passing through and want to find some Chicago goodies, I highly recommend stopping here!)
First and foremost, in addition to the highway, this location is accessible by several bus lines, and the blue line stop is not far away. There is paid street parking available as well. The neighborhood is eclectic and colorful filled with many other shops, restaurants, and bars - both local and chain.
The shop offers a wide array of Illinois- and Chicago-themed gifts and souvenirs. From stickers to magnets, books to boardgames, and shirts to kitchenware, this store offers so much! If you’re an avid fan of local- and/or transportation-themed memorabilia, this is definitely a place for you as many of the smaller items are based on local legend and lore, Chicago neighborhoods, and even individualized train stops and street names.
What impressed me the most was the hospitality and enthusiasm the staff had for their business. Linda was lovely and answered questions about merchandise and even then introduced us to the owner Tim who gave us a tour of their design studio and shared his business story and origins. Everything in this store is locally designed in-house! They are continually brainstorming fresh ideas to share with the world.
I also greatly appreciate that they welcomed my sister and her boyfriend as veterans who recently finished their service with the Marines. Thank you so much, again, for closing this trip with such hospitality for them!
Whether you’re visiting Chicago or are a seasoned local to the city or suburbs, I highly recommend stopping into this shop to check out what they offer. As for me, this specific shop will be my dedicated Merchandise Mart for anything “Chicago”.

I received a message shortly after this review they offered to help with the situation and ended up sending me a replacement model. The condition of the model was no fault of their own and the newer model does have some manufacturing defects but it is in way better condition than the first one I bought. I do appreciate them for resolving this matter. Also added a photo to compare the two copies.
Edit: This was not a bargain bin item this was a regular priced wooden bus at $18.00 if it was a bargain item i would not have had an issue..
Prices are a bit high i can get around that but i got sold was poor quality copy and i sent and email and even messaged their page and never...
Read moreThis store is the perfect place for buying souvenir gifts, both for local residents and even for tourists. Transit Tees offers a wide selection of t-shirts to choose from that are locally made and of high quality. They also have board games, stickers, keychains, and magnets that can be used on the fridge. Mugs, pins, hats, and many more items can also be found here. The keychains are my personal favorites because I love keychains and I always buy them, especially if they are cute. They also offer huge discounts on specific items. This store is neat, and the items are properly organized. The customer service is great, and the people were really accommodating and helpful. I highly...
