Frank and Mary's Tavern — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

Well my experience as a TENANT above the bar, and my whole family including my 2 yr old grandson very nearly died from carbon monoxide, due to DOZENS of carbon monoxide and gas leaks, ended up in the ER just in time because the building is so old and outdated and not kept up to date or safe. After a year of constantly calling the gas company more leaks still found, altho i continued to pay rent. We were not apologized to, or offered any sympathy let alone attempts at reconciliation of any kind. Because of it I've had health issues since and lost my very good job. But instead we have been harassed and sued when I finally stopped the rent because several things hadn't been fixed although several tickets had been given for the same unsafe conditions he refused to fix. 2 days before 1st court date all of a SUDDEN THEN he has people scrambling to fix a bunch of stuff I had been trying to get him to fix. So we almost die due to the owners neglect, but he tried to punish us for it. And the bartender SUE continues to harass my family, although it is not her business what so ever. I thought this was a great place at first, now I know just how crooked and cruel these people are. The bar kitchen has roaches, I've seen it which is why I would not eat down there although I been offered free meals in the beginning, so beware when eating here although the food smells and is probably tasty. I would have been moved out already but between losing a good job because of it, leaving my finances in poor condition,and my health being poor, its been a difficult task trying to move. Oh did I mention the very poor and dangerous condition the electric is in, which I've told him many times, the lead in the paint and black mold or how I paid a $350 move in/clean up fee but he didn't clean the apartment before I moved in and it was filthy, hadn't been painted in God knows how long or the carpet, and forget tenants left a ton of garbage and furniture the landlord told me to just throw it off the back porch. Pathetic. People beware of places like this, hazardous is the word. God Bless...

1:58 Bartender yells bar "BAR IS CLOSED". People start finishing drinks and collecting their things. 1:59 bartender SCREAMS at all customers in the establishment and berates the better part of 20 people to move outside into the rain. Following everyone's exit prior to their scheduled closing time of 2:00, the bartender proceeded to re-engage with the customers outside in the rain calling them children while claiming they were being respectful in the same breath. This place is a JOKE. Get rid of the bartender you had on October 13-14th, 2023. That guy is the most disrespectful server I've met at any bar/grill/dive in my life. Unreal how he...

I love Frank and Mary's tavern. Frank and Mary are brother and sister but sadly Mary passed away 2-3 years ago. Mary ran kitchen and Frank ran the service and bar. The food is good traditional homemade cuisine. I ate there late May 2023 and an employee took over the day to day and unfortunately I forgot his name. But, he is vary nice and based on the food quality, he is doing Mary proud! It's a heavily old-timer audience and they tend to keep to themselves but it's definitely worth visiting and if you live nearby, a great substitute for homemade favorites. Great...
