I’ve heard the hype since I’ve been in Chicago, so I had to finally try it myself. The service and atmosphere is second to none. Some of the nicest guys you’ll find in Chicago. (The cashier was a little terse, but it is what it is).
My wife and I came after stopping by the Warby a few doors down to get new glasses and decided to grab a sandwich. We love our spots in west town (Bari, D’Amato’s), but today we had to true the grand of all grand’s.
Let’s touch on the experience first.
You come in, multiple people greet you and they are immediately ready to take your order. They have a list of great sandwich selections and you decide if you want additional items or not.
From there, you wait in a line to pay and by the time you paid, your sandwich is ready and you’re out the door. Efficiency at its finest.
Now to the food experience.
We got a turkey sandwich. That’s my go to at all sandwich joints.
Now I’m a bread snob. I like a soft roll, sourdough, focaccia, anything that has a light crunch but mostly a beautiful soft bite. That’s where JP’s was not for me. Now, I know people love this place and I 100% can see why, but I felt I can get a similar quality sandwich with the bread I like at some of the chain spots that I won’t name. The bread here is more hard shell. It’s surely soft on the inside, but that outside crunch was just too much for me.
This is all to say, I enjoyed the sandwich, I’ll likely come back again. It’s just not on my top list. I would also recommend it to others as a place...
Read moreWell butter my biscuit, I've been on the hunt for a muffuletta sandwich that'll knock my socks off, and guess what? J.P. Graziano was the first and, dare I say, the best stop on my quest!
I revved up my scooter and scooted over faster than a cat on a hot tin roof, only to find the place packed to the brim. And let me tell you, the reviews didn't tell a word of a lie! This joint was buzzin' like a bee in a honeysuckle field.
Every soul in there was as friendly as a neighbor's pup, and I got the feeling I'd wandered into a family reunion by mistake! The camaraderie was so thick, you could slice it like their deli meats.
Now, let's talk sandwiches. They've got more options than a squirrel's hiding spots for winter! Whether you're a carnivore or a veggie lover, they've got a sammie that'll make your taste buds do the cha-cha. Even the most steadfast vegetarians won't feel left out in this flavor fiesta!
And to top it all off, the lady at the checkout gave me Italian mom vibes that hit me right in the heartstrings. I mean, who doesn't love an Italian mom?! She was the cherry on top of this deli-style sundae.
So, if you're on the lookout for a sandwich that's more satisfying than a Sunday nap, hightail it over to J.P. Graziano. You won't just leave with a full stomach, you'll leave with a heart full of warmth from the genuine hospitality of this family-owned gem.
Cheers to muffulettas, Italian mom vibes, and the fine folks at J.P. Graziano! They've won over this sandwich...
Read moreI love JP Graziano's for many reasons. First and foremost, anytime I have walked in or spoken to anyone on the phone, I experienced palpable friendliness and hospitality I am sure any nonna would be proud of. I am a tired law student, and going to JPG's feels like my mom is hugging me, and trust me, that is very appreciated. They take care of everybody like their own kids and truly live out the values of community. For example, I mentioned I was tired and in the middle of midterms, and they gifted me a couple of cannolis. They stayed open a couple of extra minutes when I was stuck in traffic. They make me laugh and treat me (and everyone) like family. Second, some things are inevitable in life: death, taxes, and a phenomenal sandwich (or whatever you get) from JPG's - no question. While some mention high prices, I counter that you cannot expect a Hermès Birkin for the price of an overproduced and low-quality bag not even the producer cares about. I will spend the rest of my life going to JPG's. I will bring my children and my grandchildren if I am lucky.
To JPG's, thank you for all you do and the pride you have in running your business, creating your food, and how you treat the community. I look forward to stopping...
