God awful service and food. I waited at my table for almost 20 mins to even have someone come over and say hello. I would have left before that but it was late and I was from out of town. The servers seemed more interested in taking care of their regulars. I only went to this place after it was recommended by the hotel I was staying at. I was finally greeted and my order was taken. I had the chicken panini. The chicken was dried out and tasteless. I've had better from fast food restaurants. When it came time for the bill they charged me for their workers healthcare costs. You read that right. An actual line item on the receipt had that on there. That should be included in the cost of the food not a line item telling everyone they give their employees healthcare. Virtue signaling? I was also charged 20% automatically for the tip since it was apparently an event night which I couldn't tell since their weren't that many people there. If I had been given the opportunity to reduce what I was going to tip I wouldn't be writing this review. I went back to the hotel I was staying at let them know about my experience to which they said they would stop recommending them.

ps I also had to yell loudly "miss" several time to get the attention of the server after my food was brought out and I wasn't given silverware or a napkin. The lady who responded to me finally looked at me and in a condescending tone said "Yes". You could tell on her face she didn't...

Update after owner's response: They have done a great job and did wonderful things during covid serving hospital workers. That being said, as someone who would come often and speak to the regulars there were things that made me worry.

When I started going in 2013 I went enough to know the regulars and would call it the 'Cheers of Chicago'. For what I heard it was from staff and regulars. I don't want to comment anymore. I wish them good luck with their business and in the future.

That being said the staff is not the same as when I started going over 13 years ago. They were very congenial and kind.

I am disappointed that the owners responded in this way to someone they clearly knew was a regular. I also think their responses to reviews show a shift in mentality. I wish them the best.

A buddy of mine recommended this place as I was visiting Chicago for the weekend. I wish he hadn’t. We get there to watch the first Sunday night football game of the season and ask “can you put the game on?” since the place was showing cartoons on all 10 TV’s. The response was “oh we will be showing it”. Mind you, the game had already started. So midway through the first quarter after they put the game on 1/3 of the TVs in the place, they take it off. Genuinely had the game on 0 TVs for a good 10 minutes. When several patrons asked what happened and if they could put it back on, the employees seemed lackadaisical or like we were bothering them.
