Love this place for food, hate for coffee.
I work in the building and sometimes go downstairs to get lunch at Market Creations. I love their food offerings! All I’ve tried there was fresh and delicious. BUT my every coffee experience was just horrible!
I should note right away - I’m an espresso type of person, so I prefer espresso-based drinks. Being familiar with the coffee scene in Chicago (from mediocre to outrageous offerings), I can state that my experience in this place has been below mediocre. “Baristas” don’t care about your drinks - it’s all about the speed even when they are not busy. I once ordered a small almond milk latte and received a medium size - while I should be happy for a free “upgrade” - the proportions used to make my drink stayed the same. So basically, I just got more milk. And yes, any plant-based milk MUST be steamed to temperature less than regular milk, but I burnt my tongue trying to drink that coffee.
My final point that made my write this review was that “barista” forgot to add an espresso shot to my latte!! So she served me just the steamed milk!! REALLY? it was NOT during rush hour! This made me to actually order a “hand steamer” on Amazon and never go to Marker Creation for...
Read moreI enjoy the buffet style lunch here. I don’t plan my meals so it’s very convenient to grab food here. The price is also decent. The lady staff who is typically at the front registers makes it uncomfortable to check out with her or have interactions with. I believe she’s the manager and her name is Lizbeth. I’ve been noticing for a couple weeks now that she’s rude and puts on an unwelcoming attitude. It makes sense this location isn’t too busy when she’s around or when she’s behind mobile breakfast carts. Rest of the staff is friendly. I notice they’re a bit tense or distressed when Lizbeth is around. I really do enjoy that we can come down as staff and grab lunch in the same building. I’m going to try some other places nearby, it’s not worth grabbing food from a place where the manager creates an...
Read moreThis place has burned me one too many times.
I only go because it is in the building I work in. Half the time, they aren't ready / set up even within 15 minutes of when they open -- especially with sushi. Much of the time, they just don't have all their usual offerings, so you're stuck with whatever they happen to have. And today was a new fun little reality -- cash only.
For being a convenience location for professionals, their consistency is just...
