Im typing this as I sit at the table — it was my first time here. The waiter, heavy set lady with glasses was so rude our whole stay. I was actually almost convinced this places demeanor was to be rude to their customers, I even made a joke at the table asking. From the bar, to the table she was rude. We initially ordered at the bar while we waited for the table and asked to keep the tab open. she closed the tab anyways and we proceeded to sit at a table for two and the 3rd was going to stand. we were told this was a hazard and had to stand for another table to open as they sat other guests there. we then sat at the next table that opened which still had stuff on it, and guess who came to clean our table, the mean one with the glasses. My drink was still on the table and she sprayed the table next to my drink and my friends too. Didn’t even say sorry, and offer another drink, rather “thanks for doing my job” as we stacked the cups on the side from the prior visitors. I then ordered another drink and she said I can’t take your order here you have to come to the bar and order it from me. She quickly saw our faces and said this one time i’ll go make it but you have to come with. after following her to the bar I gave my card and made it known again to keep the tab open. after the swipe I went to go back to the table thinking she would just walk the 5ft to bring it and she demanded I stayed while she made it so I could bring it back. Anything for her to do less work.
Sad customer, i’m going back to Small Cheval.

Read moreThe NADC burger at The Drop In is one of the best in Chicago! 🔥
This burger is fairly simple, but that simplicity really lets the ingredients shine. You have 1/3 lb wagyu beef, cheese, special sauce, caramelized onions, pickles, and banana peppers all layered on a soft pillowy bun. The bun does a good job absorbing the grease from the meat and cheese, which is considerable. I wouldn’t call this overly greasy, but it certainly isn’t a light burger. It really focuses on salt, fat, and acid, and it masters that combination really well.
The fries can come either normal or “Beast Mode,” which means the fries are smothered with cheese, sauce, chopped pickles, and chopped banana peppers. Both were delicious with a great amount of crunch, but I’d recommend the Beast Mode fries for that extra flavor. Also, definitely ask for their ketchup, which was tasty and a little spicy for an extra kick.
It is true that the food is a little pricey, but I do feel that it’s worth the price if you value higher quality ingredients. After 10 PM, you can get a burger, a beer, and a shot for $20 — to me that’s definitely worth it. Otherwise, the burgers are $16 each, with fries being an additional $5 (or $8 for beast mode). If you like burgers, I’d highly recommend a visit to the Drop In for the NADC burger. I’ll certainly be back again!
P.S. Some reviews mention “hiding” of the 20% service charge. During my visit, they were very transparent about the charge and went out of their way to mention that it was distributed similarly to a tip....
Read moreGot take out here two nights in a row. First night I got the burger, fries, and beast mode fries, 11/10 stars, everything tasted absolutely amazing. It tasted so good I went the next day and got the burger and beast mode fries again. The fries where once again amazing, the burger however smelled absolutely putrid. I might have left no review or even a neutral review given my take out the night before was fantastic and if it was just a slight odor, mistakes happen. However the burger omitted such a horrific smell there's no way no one noticed, it was so disgusting I had to throw it in a bag and tie it off.
Update I went in the next day with the burger in question and wanted to talk to a manager. The cook was really curious why I was there and kept asking me over and over again why I wanted to speak to a manager. The bartender on the other hand was really apologetic and took my info down to give to one of the managers.
I got a call later from Jason who, in my opinion, handled this situation the best you probably could've. Not only was he really apologetic for what happened but he genuinely was concerned how it even happened. Because of his response I felt it was only necessary to raise my review from 1/5 stars...
