I've been wanting to try the distinctly red, Chicken Adobado at Pollo Express for the last few months. The reviews looked promising, so mom and I finally drove down from the Irving Park neighborhood and arrived at the post lunch hour, 2pm.

We ordered the whole chicken adobado with rice, refried beans, corn tortillas, a roasted jalapeno, and two salsas. The portions were ample, the chicken was tender and quite tasty, plus, the refried beans was spot on. I have my own recipe for Pollo Adobado and make it often on my charcoal fired Big Green Egg. The Adobo chicken at Pollo Express was perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned and perfectly salted, but not juicy....this was probably due to the fact that our batch was made at around 11 am for the lunch crowd, which meant that ours sat around for 2-3 hours...no biggie. Again the beans were spot on, the rice was pretty good, the tortillas were super fresh, albeit, not handmade. We enjoyed everything but the salsas, as they lacked character. We also felt that both the chicken and rice needed just a little more zing.

Lastly, we were super impressed with the all female staff and owner. They really take pride in what they do and keep the place clean and vibrant. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Oh, and one last suggestion; you should bill ahead of time or at the table. We were told to pay at the table when we placed our order, however, we waited around for a while waiting on our bill...only to be told later to pay at the register.

See you again Pollo Express! We...

My son and I placed an order over the phone, so that it would be prepared before we got there. We didn't want to dine out; instead we wanted to eat there. I'm one of the partners of an immigration law firm and recieve great reviews about this establishment from my paralegal. When we came in to get our meals we asked if we could eat there considering the place was practically empty. The young lady stated no, due the order being less than $25 dollars. Our bill was approximately $20 dollars. I ask why and she stated it was policy. I'm African American and speak Spanish fluently. She then turned to her co-worker and told her in Spanish not to allow us sit and eat there; due to our race and it interfere with some of there frequent customers due to the fact that thier not fond of African Americans. When I made a statement back to her in Spanish she was "SHOCKED " that I knew her language. This is one of the reasons why we as Americans have to STOP this type of racism. I will be posting more on my Firm's blog regarding this experience. This was a great learning experience for my son. El Pollo Express get your business ethics together. Because you could be sued....

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Pollo Express, and was impressed by the wide variety of dishes they had available. From enchiladas and tortas to tacos and burritos, there was something for everyone.

One of the things that really stood out to me was the authenticity of the dishes. The flavors were all spot on and true to traditional Latin cuisine. The portions were also generous, with plenty of food to satisfy my hunger.

In addition to the tasty food, I also appreciated the convenient location and fast service. The restaurant was located close to my home and the staff were efficient and friendly. Overall, I had a great experience at Pollo Express Chicago and will definitely be returning in the future. The wide variety of tasty Latin dishes make it a standout option for fast...

I have wanted to eat at this place for at least 3 years and I finally made it, and boy was it definitively worth the wait. The steak burrito is SO GOOD and the half or whole chicken meal is so mouth watering delicious that I went back 2 weeks later to get the BOGO on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The chicken meal comes with tortillas, onions and salse which makes it worth the money. However the metered parking on 18th street is really bad and the side street parking around the restaurant is permit parking so be prepared to drive around for a parking space.

I had beans and chicken catered from Pollo Express for a party. Everyone LOVED and raved about the chicken. We had many people ask where we got the chicken from. They loved it just like I do. On the day when we ordered the chicken (a day or two prior to the party), my sister and I sat down in the restaurant and tried their chicken quesadilla. ๐Ÿ˜ it was so good and the portions were huge. Affordable too. This place has some amazing chicken! I HIGHLY recommend this Pollo Express to eat! Order the chicken.
