Birria needs A LOT of love/seasoning. If you’re Mexican, go try & you’ll see for yourself. The guy who was taking the orders is very welcoming. Edit the seasoning on the Birria. The salt/fat of the cheese isn’t enough for the Birria to have good flavor.

Green salsa - decent

Orange salsa - when we were there I saw so many non-Mexican customers, I assume this sweet sauce is mainly for them.

Chips and salsa - salsa was real good but again the salsa, more salt.

Horchata was good

But the star didn’t shine, the Birria so 👎🏼

Paid $40 cash for 6 quasobirria tacos, drinks, good price.

Just add SALT/seasoning Taste & adjust before opening

Edit after whomever responded… always get defensive after an honest review I see & don’t take advice very well.

I’m a lady 💅🏼 who has never tasted alcohol, smoked or used drugs in her life & I also love to cook 🇲🇽 food. I know what real Mexican food taste like. 😌

Look, if that tasteless meat has non-Mexican’s in-love, I wouldn’t change the recipe either. As long as it’s bringing you the “BAG 💰” the ethnicity of the customers doesn’t matter.

Even the lying you do when replying to honest reviews may help your business so more power to you. 😅😘 Creating outrageous stories 😆.

Y eso que pare de escribir initially porque no quise agregar que salí de allí sintiéndome con el estomago revuelto (solo me comí dos quasobirria tacos & my husband who loves to eat could only eat 1 he described the taco as -empalagoso- 😬¿? & inedible 😬 which super sucked for me ‘cause it was my idea to try this place. I really wanted to like/love it.) y MAS A AUN con un muy mal sabor de boca, sounds harsh pero asqueada = bad after taste from eating there. Before you want to return to my health LOL I’m completely healthy, both my husband & I are. Fui an la Villita por un elote en palo 😋 to try to erase the taste of the quesobirria tacos, it worked! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Unfortunate truth & the only reason I decided to post my honest review is because I noticed others had the same experience n whomever replies super crazy doesn’t take accountability & ¡ATTACKS! instead of saying, “thank you for the review, we’ll take it into consideration.” IDK with POSITIVITY. Por eso! My honest review! Since you wanna be rude.

“No sabo Karen.” Si se y se mucho. Hablo, leo y escribo excelente Español, 100% segura que mejor que usted.

PSSSS YES “THEY” DO 😉😘 and if not, just go and pinch the meat to eat it by itself to taste for yourself how tasteless it is, if season were to lack...

The quesabirrias are good but The broth is not that great. Needs more seasoning and too clear. The horchata is too sweet. This is a 3 or 3 and a half star. Plus I spend $25 for 4 quesabirrias with a large horchata. Too expensive to eat that plate with bad broth . I’ve had better broth from other places. Us Mexicans know the deal .. ojala cambien la receta y vendré más seguido… era mi primera vez…..

EDIT - Your place is overrated buddy. Your quesabirrias tacos are good just like any other restaurant. To rate the tacos a 5 star, the broth needs to be good my man . I’ve tried better broth than your recipe. Yours it’s a 3 ⭐️. It doesn’t look as impressive on the pictures then when you see it in person . And the horchata was ok . Go to Elgin IL and get an horchata from el paraiso. There’s 2 restaurants. Try it from either one( same owner) and you’ll see it’s got better taste than yours. And yes you ask 30 people that was white or black. When I went there, It was mostly white people. Of course they gonna say it was good. And not only that , you even asked me when I was paying on how was it. I said “ it was good” just like any other person would do. Nobody gonna tell you in your face it was bad to make you feel bad. COMMON SENSE you clown. Ask a Mexican that knows about food and that likes to taste food from supposedly “good places.” I’m one of those people that like to try food from other states . I even drive 1 hour to Chicago to try places I’ve seen on Facebook. I haven’t been back ever since .imma stop again soon to see if it has gotten better. You get defenseless, get your feelings hurt, & attack people on the internet. You are very welcoming but I can see you are a 2 face . Looks like you one of those people that can negative comments. Eres maceton. You replied with the same comment to “YM” . It’s my honest review. Stay humble my man and be nice. Karma will eventually catch up to...

EDITED AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: The owner of this establishment is incredibly rude and unprofessional. This is a real google account and I literally do not even know Angela. I told you in my review I have never left a review somewhere before. Also it is bold to make assumptions about my eating habits? I am a teacher, we commonly skip lunch to do work. The only thing I ate this day was a bowl of cereal, which I know for a fact did not give me sickness. Yes I gave the food 3/5 stars because the food was good? The food can taste good AND make me sick? Two things can be true at once. Am I not allowed to think the service was good? Why does every aspect of my visit have to be negative just because I got sick? What a insane comment to try and call my boss to confirm I actually work there? What benefit do I get out of lying.

This time I attached my photo of the food to prove that I was in fact here. Maybe the owner would like me to also attach a photo of my vomit or diarrhea so he can stop saying I'm lying? I have not ever left a review somewhere, but I have also never ate somewhere that has made me sick. The food itself was tasty but immediately after eating it I started feeling nauseous. Fast forward to that night, I was puking all night and had to call off of work. I am a teacher nearby, so this was highly inconvenient as I had to prepare sub plans at 6 in the morning while also throwing up. I saw there was another review citing the same experience to which the owner stated if it were true multiple other people would have said something, which prompted me to leave this review. I was just going to leave it be, but after reading that response it seems as if the owners here are scared of accountability.

That being said, the service was great and all the workers were polite...

First visit to Chicago and we wanted tacos on "Taco Tuesday" for dinner. We saw 4.9 ⭐️ out of 1.6k reviews and knew this was the place to try. Being from Florida, we have quesabirria tacos on every corner, so we have eaten plenty of them. Ventura's tacos are by far "the best" tacos we have ever eaten! We ordered beef and shrimp tacos and rice. We now know why they were sold out of black beans! The beef was so flavorful and juicy before dipped in the consume. The cheese pull was unbelievable. The shrimp were HUGE and cooked just right. The rice by itself was so on point that we ordered more to go. The shells were so fresh and had the perfect crispy to them. They were loaded with deliciousness! Ventura's little slice of heaven is not big, but does offer a few tables for dine-in. It was a revolving door while we dined. One of the customers melted our hearts when he came in asking if there were any leftovers. He was welcomed in and placed an order. He received a couple of bags of food and a beverage and was sent off to enjoy his meal. When we inquired about "taking care" of his bill, we weren't allowed to. Ventura said he couldn't let us pay for the gentleman's meal because he didn't want us to block his blessing. At the end of the night, if and when there are leftovers, Ventura feeds the less fortunate in the neighborhood. He is truly a God send and a blessing to some many people in his community! Thank you for the best quesabirria tacos we've ever had and for ending our night on a heartfelt note! We will definitely come back to visit!
