3rd time picking up since COVID-19 safety precautions went into effect and I'm not pleased. This is still a cash only place. If you don't carry cash then you resort to using the atm located inside. Prior to today, the last time I picked up my order I needed to withdraw from their atm on site. However, as I was making my way in, the woman that was there at that time taking orders, signaled that I couldn't go in. So, when she gave me my total I tried to hand her my bank card to which she said it was 'cash only'. I knew it was cash only, I just wanted to see what she would say when she realized why I was trying to head to the atm (which by the way was right by their entrance blocking the way into the restaurant. Therefore even if they assumed I would try to go inside, the atm was in the way). Then, today, I went to pick up my order and when I gave the man at the window my name, he said he didn't have that name down. He said he had some other name which, by the way, didn't even sound like mine. If it wasn't for the fact that I was insistent, perhaps he wouldn't have even bothered to re-read the order that was listed under the wrong name. As a favor, I asked him if the cook could bag 4 of the tacos separately (my treat to an essential worker), but he said he couldn't because my order was already bagged and this would mean the cook would have to peek in which he couldn't at that point. I didn't understand what was the big deal considering the cook was the one who prepared the order. So what would've been the harm in having the person who has clean hands, check the order, and put them in a separate bag??? The food is good, but lucky for me I can also go to their 26th st or 47th st locations if I don't want to deal with their nonsense or even go to Aguascalientes which has great food and...
Read moreI've been coming to this Restaurant (originally at 47th street location where its still stands ) since i was a wee lad. And to this day the food still taste the same as i can remember. Their staple Atotonilco taco is hands down one of the top 5 tacos in chicago. The only few places that dips their tortillas in oil to cook them making them a bit oily but not too greasy and meat is of great quality always cooked to perfection. Not a big fan of AL Pastor Tacos in general but here its very tasty. and their pickled vegetables..wow! Off the charts. Mind you this is not Big Star nor Antique Taco type ( both good and in Wicker Park and elsewhere for that matter ) . It's more of a true Neighborhood Taqueria and it's where you'll get your best tacos. Too bad we don't have one of these in the North Side but oh it's so worth the Drive. Update as of 6/5/21 I had to drop 1 stars due to the fact that on today's visit i ordered 3 Atotonilco tacos and 1 steak tortas and i found both items ( steak) to be too salty, consistency seems to be a problem here and price went up on both items since my last month visit. Still a great taco place, wish they stay consistent and ease up on the...
Read moreWe went in for dinner around 7, not busy at all it was pretty empty. We bought 5 tacos and waited over 30 minutes just to find out they skipped our order. After seeing around 5 people get their orders after us I got up to ask about ours. Turns out it wasn’t even on their screen and the two guys just looked at each other and giggled nervously, didn’t even apologize. Then we finally get it only to see that there was no salsa in the bag. Had to go back and ask for it. Also realized we didn’t get the carrots like everyone else which I really like, but I had no patience or energy to go back. Also no napkins. The lack of customer service and fact that we have to make sure we get our order correctly and do all the QA for them ruined the experience. The high price does not match the quality. And lettuce on tacos?? C’mon. First and...
