The food at Rubi's is good but not great. The tortillas are tasty but they are too thick, this is fine for quesadillas but for tacos a smaller thinner tortilla is needed, tacos lose some taste since a lot of what you're eating is not the filling but the tortilla. The pastor is amazing, but the steak is rubbery and lacks flavor, probably some of the worst steak tacos I've had. The salsas are pretty good and the drinks are great.
The service is efficient but not particularly great. They don't allow you to order over the phone, meaning you either are gonna wait in line for 30 minutes or more or you have to go online and share information that you probably might not have been trying to share such as email and address. When inside the staff are not particularly attentive and they hardly check on you, it genuinely feels like a fast food joint rather than a family owned business. They get your food to you fast, which is nice since your food comes out nice and hot. Also, while the service is efficient, it genuinely feels lacking considering the exuberant prices you pay for your food. I got 4 tacos, a quesadilla and an elote and the bill was almost 50 dollars. The tacos were small and the elote was not even purple corn but the sweet yellow one, which is disappointing considering you pay 6 dollars for the thing. Also, this place is closed almost half of the week, and when they're open they close SUPER early. I usually like ordering takeout during the week when I work, but this place is closed way too many days in my opinion and closes too early to order food when I'm enjoying late night activities such as watching a movie at home or after exercising as a treat.
The atmosphere, unfortunately, is where I take the biggest issue with this place. The venue is small and crowded. The decorations and general feeling of the place does not give me that "family owned mexican restaurant" vibe that I like from places like this. As I mentioned before, this place feels more like a mcdonalds rather than a cozy family restaurant. Being on a timer for the sitting doesn't help either, I understand is busy and you can't stay too long, but it doesn't help with the feeling that you're more in an assembly line rather than a restaurant.
Ultimately, while I'm glad I tried out Rubi's but this is a far cry from what I expect from small family owned restaurant business. Food quality, service and atmosphere are all pretty lacking considering the prices they charge and the days and times they are open. In my opinion there are far better options out there, I will not...

Read moreMy family and I went past this weekend. We’re from out of town and had seen them on taco chronicles, I was so excited to taste their tacos and support our community. Needless to say we were super disappointed, food was over priced to begin with. It seems like prices have been marked up bc of the shows they’ve been featured in. And to my surprise after paying 80 dollars for tacos and drinks, the food was just nasty. The asada was so greasy and full of fat, didn’t taste good. None of the tacos my family had were good. And to top it off we were told seating was first come first serve and we could seat in whatever was available. There was a family at one of the only large table, I waited for them to leave to save that table for us, I got table and the man greeting us told me that I couldn’t seat there bc the table was a reserved already, there was seven of us, so I immediately panicked because we had so much food and nowhere to sit. The place is kind of small, so I told my husband that the table available was already reserved. My husband told me the cashier had told him we could sit wherever, the man overheard our a conversation and proceeded to say the table Was available now miraculously that he had reserved it, but the people never showed up and because he was giving us a table, We should leave him a tip. Also everyone ended up with a horrible stomachache and unable to eat anything we skipped dinner because of the discomfort we felt after eating there. That finished my disappointment. I would recommend skipping this place but if you want to be like me and see what the fuzz is about go right ahead, I will never return to this...
