When I was younger my best friend and I would leave rock climbing, get a bag full of cajun fries, and scarf em down. I remember it was kind of pricey, but mostly the good memories and good food. The memories are all that was good.
Small cheeseburger, small cajun fries, vanilla milkshake. $18.
Place the order on the five guys website for curbside. Call in to say I'm out front. "Orders not on my screen, we'll get right on it when it is". Twenty minutes go by, just go inside. I got SO much flak for just asking about my order.
Insisted they don't have it. I offer to show them the online order, the text message from five guys, the charge on my bank, the order number, all of it. Finally the other girl there remembers my order apparently and keeps reasking my name.
Says that some man came in, said Ashlyn, and took my order. They said he was probably an ubereats or doordash guy. I did the guest checkout on five guys website, I didn't even give an address. I got a text from five guys so I can let them know when I'm curbside. I didn't place a delivery order, I don't know what went on with that.
Shrugs, and walks away from the counter. I just spent $20 on this food, and I get flak and a shrug? Ask them "so, what am I supposed to do? Do you have like a number to call?". Decide they're just going to make my food, but keep giving me flak saying they don't have issues when they place orders online. I don't know what went wrong, I've offered you all the information I can give, I just want to know what YOU want me to do next.
Finally get home with my food, and it's alright. The fries were not above other fast food places. Wingstops fries are far better. Shake wasn't better than other fast food shakes. And, the burger was on par with like a good wendy's.
For the hassle and price this place is so far from worth it. I've eaten at a burger king that looked bombed out inside, only GER illuminated, and gotten far better customer service, similar quality food, and didn't drop $20. Hell, that GER gave me food poisoning and I've gone back since. I won't...
Read moreWord of mouth about how good Five Guys is encouraged my girlfriend and I to eat here once it opened here in West Des Moines IA. We ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 1 milkshake. Our total came out to be $28 and I was a little taken back by the price. I figured if the food was that good, I could live with the price.
The burger was nothing to get excited about. It was not great, not bad, just average.
Fries were surprisingly good. I thought the fries were the only decent part of my meal, though I don't feel like they were good enough for me to ever get the urge to go back and get them again.
The milkshake was the biggest disappointment. This thing was not a shake at all, just pure liquid. I'm actually pissed about the shake. lol
In conclusion, I totally regret spending $28 here. This is the most time I've spent on a review, and I hope that tells people just how horrible this food is. I believe that FIve Guys is probably good food, just not at this West Des Moines location. I did run into a friend a few days ago and asked him if he'd had Five Guys yet, and he told me he'd worked there for about 3 hours before he quit. He told me it was dirty filthy and he...
Read moreJust had lunch here with my fiancé. The service was excellent, we were greeted when we walked in. I told the young lady working the front counter we had never been before. She explained the whole menu to us in a timely fashion and we knew exactly what to get when she finished. She was awesome. Didn't catch the name though. We ordered and it took less than 5 minutes to get the food and they have good drink selection. The low cal drinks were all out but I've seen that almost everywhere I go. When we sat down we were greeted by another employee. The burgers were hot and fresh with just the right amount of toppings. The fries taste like the "bucket-o-fries" at the Iowa state fair which Iove, perfectly salted. The price is worth the food and we are full, but not destroyed. The lady who greeted us when we walked made sure to wish us well off. This place was 10/10 for me. I like having the ability to make my own burger and watch it he cooked with fresh ingredients. The only bad thing I have to say about it is the layout. Seems people were confused wether to sit or stand and wait. A more practical layout would be ideal. Thanks...
