I was hoping for a restaurant with great Chinese closer to me (I typically drive to Murray for Dragon Diner), and potentially a replacement for my favorite wok-style place that went out of business a decade ago. Sadly this is not it. I got the dinner orders of kung pao chicken and beef & broccoli. The kung pao chicken dish was 85% zucchini and texture/flavors were off. I eat a lot of kung pao chicken and this one was in a category all its own (and not in a good way). The beef and broccoli was lacking the depth of flavor that you usually get from wok cooking and it was way too salty. I was very hungry and struggled to put this food away--it's the sort of thing that makes you lose your appetite while eating it. The restaurant had 1 table of people there during dinner rush, so I should have taken that as a bad sign and walked away. The positive reviews for this place are clearly from the Utahns with bland tastebuds & low expectations for Chinese food. My search for good Chinese on this side of the valley...
Read moreOk. I havenât been to this place since they moved to their current location many years ago. I went to their old location in the 90âs kiddie corner to âAlbertsonsâ on 9000 south Redwood road. Back in the day this was the go to place for Chinese food in the West Jordan/South Jordan area. This is where I first tried and fell in love with the General Chicken! They used to put broccoli in it back in the day, now itâs just chicken deliciousness. Itâs the standard that I judge other Chinese General Chicken by. I do miss their old location and how big their dining room was but post-covid, itâs just easier to grab take out and this trip did not disappoint. Dining is available there, but it is fairly small I took photos of the takeout container and itâs stuffed full of food. I spoke with the owner and itâs still the same family serving great food. If I live closer, Iâd probably visit once a week. Thanks Wok-King for serving great Chinese food all...
Read moreIt's okay. We dined in, staff is friendly and this is our first visit/time. It was good enough but.... the chicken lo-mein was a bit salty and the noodles seemed to be regular spaghetti pasta and it seemed to be our freshest plate. The sweet and sour chicken pieces came in large palm size pieces and the breading was so thick. Dipping it in sweet and sour sauce made it taste like a doughnut. I forgot to take a pic. The ham fried rice was good too but it could use some veggies. It was only egg, ham and rice with seasoning. Egg rolls and wonton were good. Sadly this will be my only visit, we moved from a certain area of SLC to lower parts of SL Valley and we have yet to find a local favorite Chinese spot. We still drive to our...
