My family and I love Smokey Bones. It is one of our “go-to” restaurants and has been for quite sometime. My youngest child always asks if we can go the “restaurant with the flames.”
I will have to say that when we visited on Tuesday evening, we had less than stellar food, which I will get into in a minute.
Upon arrival, no greetings by the male host at that moment in time. He was rather flat, but that’s not the biggest issue we had as a family. We were seated almost immediately.
Our server, I did not catch his name, but he wore glasses, was amazing. I have no ill remarks or anything negative to say about him.
The main problem we had was our food. My husband ordered his normal appetizer of pretzel bones that come with the beer cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was lumpy, as it had separated. When it was time for our entrees to arrive, I ordered the pulled pork platter with broccoli and mashed potatoes, my husband ordered the Mac and cheese (smokehouse ? I forget exactly what the name of the dish was) with pulled pork on it.
The broccoli on my plate looked dead, black, limp. Gratefully our server noted that without any words being exchanged and brought new broccoli with no hesitation and took the initiative. My pulled pork though was cold, dry and was sandwiched in between two pieces of Texas toast. My mashed potatoes were definitely instant. My husbands Mac and cheese dish was less than stellar according to him, with mushy noodles that were overcooked. My kids were good with their food ordered off of the kids menu.
I never send food back to the kitchen. We have seen “Waiting” enough to know better.
I am very disappointed that this restaurants food quality has slipped tremendously over our last few visits, with this time being the most noticeable. They really need someone knowledgeable in the kitchen and someone checking items prior to being sent out for service. Our server was great, but the food was terrible.
Unfortunately, until we hear more positive things, and until food quality is vastly improved, we will not be back for quite awhile, the food isn’t...
Read moreI would want to return here to give another chance but , being there with my family for the holiday weekend. We were looking forward to this place but the service was terrible. First when we went inside the hostess / waitress was a mess from the beginning. She asked how many I said 6 and a baby and she said so that’s 7 rudely . Than she couldn’t figure out how to sit us even though the place was empty . Standing around and hearing her nag about how she doesn’t normally sit people . we get seated finally . She then comes to ask what we want to drink . I say water for everybody . And she says does everyone want water because sometimes people order that and not everyone drinks it …. I didn’t know how to respond to that … I just said water for everybody again confused. Than she tells us she’s not feeling well when taking our order .. very unprofessional. Telling us she need to go home because she’s sick but still serving us. When takin our order she needs to read the menu off of everyone because she has no idea what’s on the menu. She then says I’m new here sorry . We ask for salad with no chicken she says you still have to pay for the chicken though … mam that’s no problem… she goes on tells us a story about how she ordered food and was charged for something that was removed from the order … mam I don’t care… I wanted to start the order with my daughter but she insisted to start at the other side of the table and my daughter went last . (her order was forgotten )… thanks mam … cheese fries were ordered with no tomatoes.. of course they came out with tomatoes… my wife didn’t even want to order anything else because this lady was just lost… the manger was called . No discount , typical apology . The waitress came back trying to apologize. When giving the bill trying suck up for a tip telling me she works 3 jobs ….I’m sorry . This was the worst service I have ever received. We were speaking about Florida during our meal and this waitress had the nerve to tell us she going there in 3 weeks and can’t wait … good for you mam.. nobody cares… do your...
Read moreUPDATE: Juan called me from the restaurant and was very apologetic about what happened. After explaining to him our experience, he stated he would address with the appropriate people. It's not often that someone calls you to try and get to what the problem was. Therefore, I have upgraded my review.
This review is harder to write because had it not been for the server "Kenneth" I would have given it 1-star at best. Kenneth was so upbeat and fun it kind of made the rest of the dinner seem secondary. Keep up the good work Kenneth!
This was a Tuesday night, so they weren't that busy. There was one other big group...we had a group of 8. We ordered and had the nachos as an appetizer while we waited. The nachos were good and as expected. However, when it came to main courses, that was a different story. 2 of our party ordered just wings and potato wedges for dinner and asked for them to come out with the entrees. Well, they came out 15 minutes before anyone else's food, so they were done before anyone else got food. Everyone else's entrees started coming out in slow fashion 1 or 2 at a time. The last meal to come out, a burger, came out as everyone else was finishing their meals. Unacceptable. As for our food, we had the Bonefire for 2. The food was good, however, it was all cold. For as long as we waited, you would have thought it would have been at least warm.
Kenneth realized our frustration and went to his manager. In return for our issues, the manager gave everyone a free dessert, so kudos...
