This used to be a really good Chinese buffet. This time around- not so great. We were seated and served beverages promptly. The buffet looked and smelled appetizing.
The main reason we come here is for the seafood. For around $20 bucks a person it's not usually a bad deal with snow crab and clams, lobster, abalone, shrimp dishes and oysters to choose from. Also, fresh cooked steak, for those of you that like that.
I took snow crab clusters and steamed little neck clams for my main dish. The crab legs were a struggle to eat as they seemed to be overcooked. The long part of the leg shell wanted to bend in half without breaking. It's supposed to snap cleanly in order to pull the whole piece of crab out. This did not happen with any of the subsequent batches either. Also, I took a good look at the crab legs and they did not look very healthy. They looked like they were seconds and not prime crab. There were barnacles, stains and spots on them. You know, the ones they throw away on the Deadliest Catch or use for other purposes other than steaming.
The clams did not seem to be cooked all the way and some of them appeared to have been forced open. They were not hot and steamy like they should have been but lukewarm. I've definitely had better from this place . I did find some spicy shrimp that was pretty good in order to fill up since I had such a hard time getting any crab out of the crab legs and not trusting the clams to be the best.
I had a couple of pretty good Chinese donuts for dessert. The rest of the desserts left a lot to be desired with hard as a rock macaroons , little tiny pieces of different flavored cakes, which were not very good and Jell-O and pudding. Out of the fresh fruit, the pineapple and the Kiwi were not ripe and the grapes had seeds in them. You would think for a $20 buffet they could afford seedless. Also, the grapes were loose but the little tiny stems were still in the grape. They didn't even bother to remove those.
In order for me to ever come back here they need to fix the seafood problems. In my opinion they need to revamp the buffet and try some different desserts and other dishes. They serve the same thing...
Read moreI hadn't been to the Crazy Buffet is YEARS, I'd say around 15 years or so. I went tonight for dinner with my Fiance. I WOULD of given this place a 3 star review based off of their food. The only thing that tasted good to either of us was the sushi. All the other food was average for a buffet or lower as most of it doesn't get flip very often except the popular items. They do have crab legs, however bring your mask and helmet because it is a hectic ordeal to get any, as there never is enough for the people waiting for them to come out. The chocolate fountain was working, kinda, there was a couple spots that dribbled chocolate you could fight for. Now back to my reason for a 1 star review....after we received our check, just under $53 for two people, our server didn't return for a few minutes and we were paying with a credit card, we decided to take the receipt book to the front and check out. We start walking through the dining room, the book with our bill and credit card in hand and all of a sudden out server comes RUNNING up behind us saying excuse me, excuse me, you did not pay! We are literally not even in sight of the front door nevertheless out of their building! Let's not forget we have the book with the check and our credit card IN HAND. I've eaten all of this country and in different countries as well, NEVER have I been accused of not paying for my bill. After I told the server she took too damn long and I was paying with a credit card she took me to the front, where I was going anyway, and rang me up and had the nerve to ask me which percentage of tip I wanted to leave. I look her dead in the eyes and clicked zero and told her that the best tip I had for her is never accuse someone of stealing and expect a...
Read moreI come to this buffet often. I had given it many opportunities to try it again. Though, a few things I’d like to point out are 1: the service is terrible and 2: the food’s quality has gotten bad.
the servers have been treating me and my party bad. Okay fine, it’s a buffet, I serve myself. I don’t necessarily need a server except to ask for utensils or drinks. I Can manage with that, I don’t mind. However, when we walk in, they receive us as if they’re already fed up. I understand that everyone has their bad days but I myself who works in the food industry, we must always keep it professional. Especially, if you want good tips.
The food went from really good to bad. I realized that the few times I had been there lately, not just me but who I go with get bloated. The foods would be cold also. They also have non Chinese food more like American. If you’re going to a “Chinese” buffet you want Chinese food obviously. However, they had foods like bbq ribs and buffalo wings.
I still gave the food rating 3 stars bc of their sushi selection. They have a large variety and has always stayed delicious. They also a decent selection of sashimi. The sushi rolls are smaller but only means just grab more.
one of my cousins paid the bill and I was going to leave the tip. When the sever came back to get the booklet, she asked for the tip “what? No tip?” literally when I was pulling out my wallet getting the money. A server doesn’t ask for tips and in this case we all decided not to tip her for that. You only tip when service is excellent of course.
I won’t be coming anymore. Personally, there are more cons than pros and this review is my most honest...
