Never had such pour service then I did yesterday at Robert street Applebees location. Along with just rude ungrateful employees. Besides horrible bar service... The servers gathered around the bar complaining about serving the customers they had and the expected 2 dollar tips they would receive... while I waited to enjoy my burger. (Couldn't actually believe what I was hearing...and they wernt being quite at all)
The Bartender (while I drank soda) never asked to refill my drink. Never asked how the burger tasted while I was eating. Never really actually asked me anying directly until I might be ready for dessert. I left the money at the end of bar for change once tab was placed out... and she never once picked it up to change it. So I dove into my pocket for an exact 15% tip (which is my basement in tips) when I usually tip 30% or more.
She simply walked away after watching me place it there, to go do her daily tasks she was so busy doing instead of servicing the client.
The Cabresse Burger was delicious and cooked to pink as ordered. Unfortunately the basil wasnt on the burger.... they waited to mention the basil wasnt available for when they ran it out.... Hehe "That's why I ordered it!" Lol... I still ate it and enjoyed though. Compliments to the chef.
Later the servers gathered again for another heated debate on how crappy their tips would be..most likely from the assumption that the service they provide was poor.
This was my first time ever walking into the Robert st location. I loved the lay out but will never risk dealing with that wait staff again. Makes you miss The Ground Round!
First any only time visiting this location. But sadly.. There are way more options (worth your money) to choose from out on Robert Street then Applebees.

When he asked the (rude waitress) to please bring him another drink, she suggested that the bartender would put more ICE I'm the drink to make it more creamy... Sorry honey, the ice will make more water...l am a bartender., This I know. She insisted that was the only way he would get his drink. Why couldn't they just make another??? She also, as I've mentioned, was very rude!! The service was a joke! Then the bill came and he had to run his card. It didn't go thru the first time so he called ms. Rude over. She told him to swipe the card again and again. It still would not take the card. She said that the whole system went down the day before and people were having trouble with swiping. She took the card and dipped it twice herself. Then my son asked for a manager. No way Jose! She took the card in the back, swiped it again... Came back without his card and said everything was ok. My son called his bank only to find that he had just paid almost one hundred dollars for a $27 meal!. We went back and there was no apology.. the manger said "no problem, the bank won't take the charges out. W H A T???? IT WAS ALREADY TAKEN OUT! as of today the money is not bank in the bank like she said it would be there this morning.. now what? It was a awful experience and we will NEVER NEVER go back there. Oh! And he left her a very generous tip. Then she looked at the slip where he signed and added the tip... She had the nerve to ask him "what's wrong, was there something wrong with the food? My service?" Not wanting to stay and talk to her, he simply replied "no" .We LEFT!!! NEVER...
Read moreI usually like Applebee's, but this was the worst experience thus far. This was my first time dining at the West St Paul location. It was a Monday evening, my birthday so I decided to go for a quick dinner with my sons. Upon arrival, the parking lot was empty and there were more staff than customers inside. We waited 10mins just to be seated. That should have been our que to leave. I could see staff just walking and lounging around. After finally being seated, we had to wait additional 20 mins for a server to come take our orders. This was so upsetting to me as the place wasn't even busy. Server (kanisha) didn't apologize for the wait.She didn't even bother to greet us. She acted as if she was doing us a favor. After she took our appetizers orders, I told her I wanted to order an entree to go. The server brought out the appetizers and drinks and never came back to our table. Mind you I could see her walking around, chatting and carrying on. I had to Flag down a staff twice for a To go box for our appetizers and Payment. I decided not to order more items. This location will not get another dime of my hard earned money! Original sever brought out the receipt. She must have recognized how horrible she treated us and proceeded to make small talk. Of course she was rightfully ignored by us. Kanisha, "hospitality begins at the door not when the customer is leaving. our dining experience was already ruined and we were over it. With all the jobs openings options out here, I don't understand why some individuals act like it's such a bother just to do their job.
