Chipotle Mexican Grill — Restaurant in West University Place

CHIPOTLE IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE!

This review is based solely on my own experience and personal opinion.

I went to this Chipotle restaurant on a Sunday evening, 1/16/22, right before closure.

FOOD: we ordered two BURRITO BOWLS and two fountain drinks... BURRITO BOWL= they were good even tough ingredients were not fresh anymore, they had a good flavor. They had the vegetarian options if you did not feel like to have meet, which is always cool. DRINKS = the Fountain drinks where all super sweet and some of them were finished.

CLEANLINESS = when we arrived, they were cleaning the entire place, but you could see they had alot of food/crumbs on the floor and some seats were still dirty. so, hard to say what was the condition before we arrived. I can tell you that the girl was thoroughly cleaning and mopping the floor and the other one cleaning the tables.

STAFF: the Staff was all pretty dry, maybe tired, but not much interaction and not much explanation. The guy who took our order had no facial expression, no smile or friendly words. Just very dry. The one thing I have to complain about though, is that he never fully explained how the price changes when you add certain ingredients or "combinations", so we ended up paying ALOT of money for two burrito bowls.

PLACE: The overall design of the restaurant is very nice, with very nice wall decor and cool lighting fixtures.

RESTROOMS: Restrooms were clean and neat. hand soap, toilet paper and hot water.

PRICES: We had a price tag in mind for the burrito bowls, the price shown in the board menu.... the guy keeps asking "do you want this, do you want that" without explaining how that would have affected the price... so we ended up paying ALOT of money for two burrito bowls and two fountain drinks.... close to $40.

CONCLUSIONS: we felt cheated.... not a Chipotle restaurant I...

Nice location overall. The girl who helped me (Miranda) was nice, had good customer service. I initially wanted chicken but decided I wanted carne asada on my bowl but was concerned with the way it looked. (Dry, not fresh) she grabbed lemon juice and mixed it with water to freshen it up. Not sure how to feel about that as I believe it only gives it a fresh appearance but doesn't helps but I appreciate it the effort. Most employees simply tell you that its fresh. I cannot however say the same for the cashier unfortunately. He didnt make any eye contact, nor thanked me or performed any basic good customer service deeds. Didnt even looked at me as he handed me my receipt. (Hispanic guy 5'9 ish, bulky, tight shirt) the meat as I suspected was not fresh and the very low quantity. I could easily tell the difference from other locations. Also I noticed all girls hair were everywhere. Most locations have their women staff with long hair tie their hair.

Anyways, Unfortunately the only good experience from this chipotle location was decent cleanliness and decent customer service from ONE employee.

This Chipotle is probably one of the most under performing customer service restaurants chipotle has. Their management is inconsistent as well as the workers. However the new manager does try to resolve issues and handle customers with care. You have to beg for an extra quantity of food, at an expense you’ll be told no! Not to mention the older short lady ROSA, that works behind the counter will put up a fight and tell you that she’s not putting less on your bowl. That is horrible customer service. Just politely add more or tell the customer it will be extra just don’t say “no”. She’s rude and as always been rude for over a year. I went today and her attitude was atrocious. This time I said I would do a review. If the food isn’t under cooked, your bowl empty with a bunch of rice it’s the poor customer service.

UPDATE** 5/24/24 Food was prepared great and taste great HOWEVER! THERES PLASTIC IN MY FOOD. Had to be mixed in the with steak! I thought okay after while they have gotten better, new management and the food is great. This location just sucks....
