Dined at the West Valley City, UT location for the All-You-Could-Eat meal deals that turned out to be the worst meal I have ever eaten at any restaurant. First of all the restaurant was dark inside and not very busy because it was about 4 PM on a Saturday. There were 3 guests in total and two were seniors. The food was terrible once we finally received our orders. I had the ribletts, my wife had the shrimp and grandson had the chicken tenders. All were all-you-could-eat orders. My food was cold and the portion was very small. A lot different than the picture on the wall. My wife had the shrimp and she received a handful of mini shrimps with a handful of fries. My grandson who was 13 years old received 3 chicken tenders and about 10 fries. I’m not kidding we get bigger portions at McDonalds. I could not believe the dinners that they were serving us. It took about 40 minutes to receive our meals and by then I was getting a little upset. The reason being is because a couple came in about 25 minutes after us and they were seated across the aisle from us. They received their order before us they ordered the same exact meals. They received 3 servings of their meals with excellent service from their male waiter. Our waitress was terrible and spent more time visiting with workers and customers than attending to her customers. It took her 20 minutes to bring us each a glass of water. I knew then that we were going to be there a while. The dinners we received were luke warm and the plates were cold. If I wanted cold food I would have gotten my meals to go. The waitress was terrible and was not attending to her customers. I’m not one to embarrass my wife in front of our teenage grandson so I just kept my mouth shut since it was he that picked Applebee’s after seeing their commercial on TV. I have only eaten at Applebee’s twice in my life and both times were at the same restaurant. The service and food were even worse the second time. Being a senior I visited their restroom and it was disgusting with no paper towels or soap to wash with. Asked for a refill on our water with our meals and she brought us 2 glasses of water without ice and said we would have to share them. I couldn’t believe what I heard. The people next to us were on their third glass of water with their meals. Their server was a male and he was on top of it. I just couldn’t believe what terrible food and service we were receiving. It is one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten at. I went straight home and filled out their online survey from my receipt while it was fresh on my mind. It took us 2 ½ hours to get our bill so we could get out of there. I explained my concerns about the cleanliness of the restaurant especially the bathrooms. And the quality and quantity of the food. I stated the truth. A few days later I received a phone call from the restaurant manager, Val was her name. I told her about our experience at her restaurant and she just apologized and listened. The manager was embarrassed and said she would like to make it up to us and send us a dinner voucher to dine their again. The manager even shafted us on the voucher. She only offered because corporate office forced her to reach out to us because of my honest review. It's been over a month since I submitted my survey on this restaurant and the manager even shafted us on the dinner vouchers. That's about par for Applebee's! Check #:9353-1165834
05/22/2024 So the manager of this location phoned my home after posting this review. She needed me to explain everything I posted about her restaurant. She listened to my experience and promised to send me a gift card to use at any Applebees (for sure a different location) and apologized but she really didn’t sound concerned. She never sent the gift card and never contacted me again. I knew she wouldn’t so I will still continue to post my experience at this dump, I...
Read moreI walked in and unfortunately needed to use the restroom right when I arrived. I asked the 1st server if I could choose one of the booths and she said i will want to just come back and wait to be seated. My boyfriend didn't walk in with me at first. He sat himself because there wasn't a host while I was using the facilities, and we never go to Applebee's so he didn't know (nor does he read signs probably). Saw the server from earlier talking to the bartender gesturing over to our spot saying we sat ourselves. They both looked over. A 2nd server i saw and that became our server was busy taking orders and was efficient, but didn't look happy to be there and rushed. I hope it wasnt personal but I felt bad enough we seated ourselves. Her name was Kylie S. I may have caught a couple of eye rolls as she turned towards the kitchen. The location lacked an iota of hospitality. Bf requested a milkshake and she looked perplexed why he'd order that and sort of set it down by him like she was annoyed. The behavior was bizarre to me.
The thing that always annoys me about any sit down restaurant is when nobody offers to refill drinks or anything. I felt like I wasn't welcome there. Weird vibe and experience for New Years 2025. The food is always great at every Applebee's I go to so I will probably give it one more shot in Taylorsville instead next time. I wasnt sure what was going on. The server ans bartender seemed burned out or numb emotionally. Nobody working in the bar area smiled at any of their guests or seemed welcoming the entire time I was there that I could tell. I'm sure they were a bit annoyed he sat himself but we had a gift card and dont really frequent sit down chain restaurants. I have worked in restaurants and you don't need to be over the top or fake like the dude with the 37 pieces of flair on Office Space, but why not be pleasant...it helps the shifts go by faster. I hope they know they have the power to increase their tips based on level of service received.
When we left, they didnt say have a great day or anything.
My boyfriend had to say it first and received a response that seemed reluctant. I picked up on this indifferent or cold non-verbal communication from the moment I walked in and it never got better. 😔 The food was good as always
I felt paranoid in there like i did something wrong by choosing to eat there and dont want to ever go back. Would get carryout if I was in that area again. I get being tired and all but feel free to leave the hospitality and service business if you cant handle having good manners and being social.
Food at Applebee's is always great but this location needs to work on general attitudes when working with the public. We chose to sit down vs. a drive thru and that should mean something to them. Their tips are the servers livelihood. The server would have received a better tip from us had she been nicer and more interested in our dining experience yesterday.

Read moreVisited on 1-20-2024 and this was worst all you could eat riblets shrimp and chicken wings. Food cold, coleslaw was terrible. Fries were cold and old. Then the waitress that helped us was even worse. My tip was very little but she didn’t deserve that. Had to wait for 30 to 40 minutes between plates because when they offer all you could eat they can’t keep up according to the waitress. I wonder why we couldn’t even get a refill on our water. Their foods were terrible. I have only eaten at Applebees twice in my life and now I remember why. Don’t waste your money or go to McDonalds. That is what their boneless chicken wings were. Chicken McNuggets with a little sauce on them. The people on the table next to us ordered the all you can eat plates and they received 3 orders compared to our 1. So Marisol you have to pay attention to your customers. The male waiter helping them was on it bringing refills, food and attending to them. I couldn’t believe the difference. I am not the type of person to make a scene so I just bit my lip and didn’t complain. The manager even asked them how their service was but he walked by our table like he knew what kind of service we were receiving. They apologized for their terrible service and admitted it was because so many were ordering the all you could plates for $14.99. But that is no excuse. You advertise it then you should provide it. It’s not like the restaurant was packed. Half of the tables were empty. Olive Garden gets packed on weekends and they still provide good service and tasty dishes. Maybe In and Out could show you...
