I’m not sure if we caught them on a bad day but oof. I want to start out and say the food was great however as a food server once upon a time I notice dos and don’ts in restaurants someone normally wouldn’t. When we got in and seated we were put in the booth directly next to the kitchen we could see and hear everything coming in and out. The first thing we noticed was the very grumpy girl taking the to go orders via phone. She was so rude to costumers and my husband and I laughed to ourself and wondered if she was just having a bad day. She yelled and customers over the phone and we observed her shaking her head and eye rolling the people she was talking to. Next we watched a gal come out with 4 plates in her hands. One plate had a large piece of ham on it that draped over the plate and rested right on her arm where normal people cough or sneeze into and then served the food. Another girl came out with a stack of roughly 20 plastic drinking cups on her shoulder and the top 10 cups rested on her shoulder and in her hair and she placed the cups on the clean cup rack to be served to customers. A man came out of the kitchen with 2 clear trash bags full of garbage and walked right through the dining area where everyone is eating to throw in the dumpster. The waitresses also held plates with their thumbs in the food and served the plates. I didn’t see a single person wearing gloves. The greatest part about our visit was the food but after observing all of the unsanitary serving practices I was very hesitant to eat my food. If the front of house is allowed to do things like this I was worried what the back of the house does. Regardless I wouldn’t choose here to eat again based on the cleanliness. I’m not one to ever give bad reviews but a business serving things that will be consumed by patrons should follow...

The food and service was great until the end. My brother was joking with the waitress and asked her for $20. He asked her a few times and we, even she, laughed and joked about it. We paid for our food which was $48 and placed a $10 tip on the table. When she came back to the table, my brother asked her for $20 again and she gave it to him. We were all shocked. My bother put the money back on the table as a younger guy with dark hair comes by and stated that she works hard for her money and we shouldn't have taken it; mind you it was on the table the entire time and we were getting up to leave. He then continued with the rudeness even though we explained that we were joking and honestly didn't know that she was upset since she was being so friendly at first. I'm from Texas, and have never witnessed anything like this in my life.

I was appalled to say the least. I'd never recommend this restaurant to anyone else visiting this town. My main question is, why would she just give someone money that just paid almost $50 for their meal and then tipped her $10? We clearly didn't need her money.

P.S. We left the tip after being treated so poorly and racially profiled. We are good Christian individuals and we know that God is pleased with us.

Prayerfully, K. Wilson A Sister From Texas Visiting Her...

We had heard that Ogie's was good, and finally had a chance to stop by for a late breakfast. Even though it was pretty busy, as we went on Pioneer Day here in Utah, they had tables available and sat us immediately. Real old-school diner feel, but it smelled good inside and everything was clean. We live nearby in West Valley, and this is the best breakfast around, and as good as just about anywhere else in the valley.

The food came out fast, and there was a ton of it! I got the pancake sandwich (two plate-sized pancakes, ham, and two eggs) which they were happy to serve disassembled for around $6.50, and a side of hash browns $2.25 or so. My wife got one of these $4 specials, two eggs, bacon, and hash browns. All of the food was hot, delicious, and was more than enough for two adults and a three-year old, with some left over. It was friendly service, and was a real bargain for the amount and quality of food, as well as how quickly we were seated and served. We will def be going back! They also appear to have a great selection of burgers and sandwiches for lunch, but we will have to try those another time. My only complaint was the hash browns needed a little salt, but that's a...

You must experience this old school diner vibe in West Valley City, Utah and you’ll soon find out why Ogies Cafe is something special. You can easily tell it’s history runs deep as it’s been open 40+ years on the same corner. Full disclosure: I’ve been coming here since I was a kid growing up on the area I wanted to share my thoughts as I’m very happy to see this place consistently thrive from the regulars frequenting the square bar, the smell of fresh breakfast being cooked to the lines out the doors on any given weekend Ogies is always worth the wait! I usually their ‘Special Burrito’ no ham, add bacon, sausage, diced mushrooms, onions and green peppers on top with extra smothering green chili. That’s “Vallejo Style” it’s a big burrito that fills a large plate. Great for enjoying half at the diner and the other half later for some flawless leftovers. Today I went with my second favorite their Veggie Skillet with bacon, sausage and side of green chili to smoother it up nicely. 👌🏼 Any breakfast item is delicious, their golden hash browns are crave worthy and if you want lunch you won’t be disappointed by their burgers and home cooked fries. Ogies = Special
