I'm writing this from a vegetarian perspective, so if you're a meat eater, you may wish to move along.
El Paso is like many americanized mexican restaurants-- free table chips, a gazillion dishes and combos, music, the whole bit. For most people, it probably works, and that's awesome.
Not so much for vegetarians, though.
I strongly believe that if a restaurant features a vegetarian section on the menu, it has an obligation to its customers to ensure that those dishes are, in fact, vegetarian. Especially, you know, a vegetable, like beans. Unfortunately, I learned from my server that El Paso's rice and beans are made with chicken stock and other animal ingredients. That makes them very much not vegetarian. Unfortunately, the entire "vegetarian " section on the menu includes these items in every dish. If you're vegetarian, you cannot reasonably eat here without being extremely selective, heavily modifying things or ordering something like plain chips and guacamole salad (and then you'll be hungry and cranky as you watch the rest of your party dig into mounds of food).
The folks around me (all meat eaters) looked like they were enjoying their meals, so El Paso obviously is making people happy. And my server was kind and attentive.
But I won't be back. I can't eat here and don't trust what's left on the menu....
Read moreMy girlfriend and I received our drinks, a mt dew and a water, and there were stuff floating around in both the drinks and in the bottom of the glasses. We asked the waitor kindly if he could replace the beverages after he took our order and his tone immediately changed. He looked upset with us and it took over 10 minutes for us to receive our new drinks, but the drinks did not even have ice. 40 minutes later we still did not receive the queso we ordered and he did not check on us once but he was obviously checking on all the tables around us. Once it became clear we were no longer being served we left. I did at least leave money on the table for the clean mt dew I received. I dont understand why he was upset with us after providing dirty glasses. I would be ashamed and embarrassed, we will definitely not...
Read moreEl Paso restaurant serves common Mexican foods such as nachos, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, and many special entrees.
During our visit, the employees’ service was very good. A seating host promptly seated my husband and me at a booth. Our waiter soon took our order, quickly brought out our drinks and foods, repeatedly checked in with us, and gave us multiple drink refills. Please note that customers must pay their bills at the register rather than at the table, and the restaurant adds a fee of a few percent for non-cash payments.
As for the food, it was fresh, but we prefer the flavors of other Mexican restaurants’ foods. The salsa, cheese dip, tortilla chips, shrimp quesadilla, and mixed fajita were decent. I did not like my...
