Now I've never been a regular of Cowesett Pizza but I did order a few times under the old owners and found the food to be pretty solid. Hearing it was under new ownership I decided to try again. I paid about $36 dollars total for a large Mediterranean and an order of Souvlaki. To be honest I thought it was a little steep, but then the food arrived.
There are times in life when it can be worth it to pay a little extra for quality and this is one of them. I don't wanna ramble, but if the new owners of the place are reading this? If you can make Souvlaki that good, maybe not every time but most of the time? I would pay the $9 for that any day, any time. Exquisite, I wish I had ordered two (lol). Really excellent work
The buck didn't stop there. The Mediterranean pizza? Primo. You know they used quality ingredients when the taste between spinach and olive is as distinct as it it. I found the cheese blend to maybe be a little bland for 4 cheeses, but it tasted nice and fresh and substantial. The crust was excellent, with a flavor all its own. No complaints from me.
All in all a super solid order that left me wanting more (especially that Souvlaki - chef's kiss!). All the best of luck to the new owners and you may be hearing from me again in the near future.
Edit: I made a mistake. The cheese blend on the pizza? Plenty of flavor. It's just the spinach and olives have so much flavor you can barely taste it. Really quality food. Impressed
Edit 2 (in reply to owner): You know what? You say you use imported olives and locally sourced pork? You know what - I believe you, because you can taste it when you bite into it. I very much appreciate your explanation of how you price. If charging $23 dollars for a pizza is what it takes to deliver quality pizza these days, then so be. I may not like it, you may not like it, no one likes it, but that's where we are these days. Everyone knows this economy is kaput.
I don't wanna talk your ear off now, just know that you've convinced me. It's not every day I order out, but rest assured you will be on my mind for the days I do. And I will be spreading the word. A pleasure doing business with you and your wife and a Happy Halloween
Edit 3: Now this is gonna be my final edit to this review, as I'm already convinced this is a five star establishment and I don't wanna ramble, but I did want to leave a note about my favorite pizza style. I love specialty pizzas, I love trying new things, but ultimately there comes a time where it all boils down to one specific type of pizza for me: the Moussaka. At its base if you've never had it, the moussaka is a pretty simple pizza, just eggplant and meatball. Some places dress it up more (like Twisted). One of the pizzas I thought the old owners of Cowesett Pizza did not have down was the eggplant, so I never ordered it from here. A little while ago I took a chance and got another one to see the new owner's take though, and I gotta say not bad! Not bad at all. It's a moussaka combination I would definitely order as a regular order, and while it's certainly maybe a specific taste I had to at least touch on it because I was quite satisfied with your upgraded eggplant. There's a million pizza places that offer eggplant here in Rhode Island, but only a fraction of them that know how to cook it and do it well. A generous eggplant to breading ratio is a thing of beauty imo. The price on a two (correction 3, I got feta too) topping pizza is also fantastic, which helps- it's easy to get carried away with the specialty pizzas. In short, Cowesett Pizza passes the Moussaka test!...
Read moreHere's the short version: great food, fast service, distrust any 1 star reviews as the result of bias or a bad day they caught them on. The long version: I love pizza and fun local appetizers. This place nailed both expertly and for a very reasonable price point. Normally I order domino's or twisted, depending on my mood and pocket book. This was a treat that I picked based on other positive reviews as a lark and it turns out, it was no snipe hunt. I should have started here. The Gyro pizza was fantastic; the other negative review about it, as I said, must have caught them on a bad day or something. It was exactly as I wanted. My partner and child both loved the garlic bread and no sauce jumbo wings. They are both very specific about chicken and devoured those wings faster than I did. I will always see if Cowesett Pizza is busy first, before I order from anywhere else. If they are busy I would honestly feel like a jerk for adding to their load when they deliver stuff this good to the people who ordered...
Read moreI love this place. Every time this place is amazing. However I will not use them during school vacation or typical busy times. Every other time is amazing. But now that it is a holiday break from school they are really busy and I understand. However the food was delivered cold and when I called to ask for the status of my food they answered and put the phone down and left it down and didn’t pick it back up. After 5 minutes of waiting with nothing I hung up and waited for my cold food to be delivered. Like I said on every other occasion the food was amazing. But when they are on peek time they don’t seem to be able to handle the output. If anyone is looking for a good pizza and sub 90% of the time I will always and continue to go here. But during the times of peek orders such as school vacations I will...
