My wife and I have tried to have a Friday evening dinner at this restaurant. On May 26, 2017 every table was occupied and wait continued to get longer and longer for us, our soon to be 2 year old was getting restless so we advised them we were going and would return next week. The new week arrived and we go out for our Friday evening dinner in town and luckily we get a table outside. We were served drinks and as we waited for our waiter to come take our order which was at this point now roughly 10 minutes after being served drinks my son grabs the fork and banged on the table a few times. A gentleman that is usually in the front entrance of the restaurant comes outside and rudely tells us to take the fork away from our son because he is banging and other folks will start complaining. A different approach would have been respected but the rudeness is absolutely not called for. We decided to no longer have dinner there and advised them we were not having dinner and asked for the bill for the drinks we were served and did not even drink. Sadly other folks having dinner asked us why we were leaving and we stated the reason, shows my boy was obviously not a bother given the fact we were all sitting outside and a gentleman is playing music with a big amplifier right outside the restaurant. We ended going to Cosimos and enjoyed our evening regardless of the upset at...
Read moreStrike Two - Food is consistently well prepared and the wait staff is always on point. I have dined there with family and friends many times over the past several years however I'm probably not what would be called a regular as we have several favorites in our area. This evening I planned a special dinner for family and friends to celebrate a birthday. I had a group of five so I made a reservation, and requested a favorite table that my family especially enjoyed. I was told when I made the reservation that it would not be a problem and the table would be reserved for me. Fast forward to this evening, we arrive at the restaurant promptly at 6:30 and the only table taken in the entire restaurant was the one I requested. I was bluntly told by the manager (the owner was not present this evening) that someone else had a reservation for the table. Well when I told him that I had made a reservation for the same table he gave me some flimsy excuse that the other party had made a reservation before I did. It sounds petty put the manager really was not very polite about it and it was pretty apparent that the other guests were friends of his, I guess other customers are just not appreciated, so I'll dine elsewhere...
Read moreI went to the Brick Oven in Westfield, NJ for my Mom's 81st birthday. Having been to this restaurant in the past, I was so happy to return. I had always had a good experience. Unfortunately, this last experience was the worst. There was 6 of us at the table. Our waiter Bob was very unprofessional and inattentive. He barely came to our table to see if we were ok or needed anything. After waiting for a long time, everyone got their food, except for my mom (she only ordered pizza). When her food finally arrived, it was the wrong pie that she ordered (she ordered a vodka pie and they brought out plain) By the time the correct pie was bought out, the whole table was done eating. Bob our waiter replied, "I can wrap the pizza up for you." He did not even care that we came out to dinner to celebrate my mom and she was told to take her food to go. After that, he NEVER came back to our table and sent a different waiter to take our check and money. I am beyond disgusted. I expect more from this upscale establishment in downtown Westfield. I have to say even though the food is good here, I rather spend my money and time at a restaurant that has better, more caring, and professional...
