Taco De Ojo Taqueria — Restaurant in Westfield

Food was very good, will be ordering from there in the future, but never dine in again due to hostile service.

Server brought food and house hot sauce bottles to our table. When I go put some hot sauce on my meal, the full lid on the squeeze bottle shoots off and the whole bottle poured out all over my food. I Show server what happened and their response was “that’s what happens when you squeeze the bottle too hard” and contemptuously asked if I wanted a spoon to scoop it off with a disdainful look that read, “don’t you even think we are gonna replace your dish.” So I asked for some water, but that’s not something they do either, apparently. Felt like they were channeling the vibe of “Dick’s Last Resort” service but probably not intentionally.

Anyway, got back to the table with my hot sauce soup and noticed a lot the hot sauce bottles around the dining room were clogged / old, which is kind of gross.

Food would have been a 5/5 if my mouth wasn’t on fire off from the surprise hot...

I ordered chicken tacos and they did not meet exceptions. My husband ordered steak quesadillas and he said they were okay, would not get them again. We were warned before we ordered they were busy and it would take over 30 minutes to receive the food. Should have just left and not ordered. My tacos were so greasy and not warm. I think they meant to fry my tortillas but just dipped them in the oil and quickly took them out. I wish I took a picture. This was a first for my hands to be dripping straight cooking oil from eating tacos. Chicken was flavorless. The different salsas they make in-house were good. Idk if it was just an extremely busy night for them but it was definitely a miss.

Workers were nice and professional. They did a great job. Place was nicely decorated too. Most of the booth seats were broken though.

The people next to us ordered the nachos and they looked really good. Maybe we would try those next time. If we go back… might just try...

A lot of care has clearly gone into the food. Homemade rustic blue corn taco shells, great presentation.

But in the end, the tacos al pastor were flavorless. How is this even possible?

They are still brand new, so there is time to improve. Focus on great tasting food, not so much presentation. It shouldn't take so long to make a great tasting taco. Go to los tacos no. 1 if you want to see how it's really done.

Salsa is tasty. I've never had it blended, which was strange, but the flavor is good.

I will be back for more. We need good Mexican in Westfield.

Edit: came back for round 2. Birria tacos somehow flavorless, lacking seasoning. Shouldn't...
