Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst of all, Iāve lived in Michigan all my life, but Iāve never been to a Chicken Shack somehow. I decided out of the blue to swing through the drive through yesterday because I was passing by and I didnāt want McDonaldās, which was next to it. I was just going to get some potatoes, but saw that they had English cod on the menu, so I got a 3 piece with the potatoes & a roll (called a āsnackā, but itās definitely a meal). The young woman taking orders was super nice & there was a big order ahead of mine, so she had me wait at the first window & gave me my food there so I didnāt have to wait, which was awesome. I decided not to wait & pulled over into the parking lot to eat some while it was hot - or IF it was hot, because my experience with fast food is that it usually isnāt. But OMG, I have no idea how the reviews arenāt a solid 5 stars. First off, it was super hot and fresh, I burned the roof of my mouth because I couldnāt wait for it to cook down & scarfed the fish immediately. I didnāt have high expectations for fried cod from a drive through, but it was really good! The pieces were on the small side, but they gave me 4 instead of 3ā¦never had it before so I donāt know if the size varies. But I appreciated the bonus fish finger! The potatoes were so freaking good that I literally said out loud in my car, āThis is so freaking goodā š The roll was warm & I dipped it in the leftover melted butter from the potatoes. I normally could take or leave a roll, but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. I was nice and saved some potatoes for my husband, there was a generous portionā¦but I started eating them again when he did, so he didnāt get them all. So, overall a 10/10 food & service experience, will absolutely be back, just wish there was one in Canton! I may try other menu options but idk, the fish and potatoes were so good, not sure I can move on - may need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is not my usual location, but I was being discharged from Genesys Surgery Center and wanted to grab food for the night while we were already out. We picked up the order via drive-thru as instructed and headed home. Normally the potatoes are fresh and have some butter, if not on them, at least down inside the container, and the chicken bites are fresh and crunchy. This is the worst meal I've ever gotten from Chicken Shack. The potatoes were dry and cold. The chicken bites were hard to bite into because they were so tough and dry. Nothing was hot or even warm. It's clear that food had been sitting out for who knows how long. I usually warm my leftovers up in the air fryer, but the potatoes were so dry and bland and the chicken was already overcooked. I refused to try to force myself to eat it. At almost $15/pp, I couldn't believe they would serve someone food like that.
I called to speak to the manager, who wanted me to bring it back up there. I just had sedation and my driver was long gone, there is no way I could come back up there today. She told me to take a picture and bring it back up there for the chef so they know not to make it like that again or something. I'll do you one better, we're not eating this mess. So tomorrow, I have to waste gas to drive from Taylor back to Westland, just to exchange this subpar meal they tried to serve my family, after I just had a medical procedure. Totally unacceptable. I will not service this location ever again. I wish I could just get a refund and not have to deal with them at all.
Update: I drove 25 mins there each way only for the manager to refuse to refund me. I did not want to exchange the food and risk getting another subpar meal, so now I've wasted additional time, money, and gas on this place...
