Apps came out fairly fast. They were also very good. Staff was friendly. Nice little cozy place too.
My only grip is how long it took to get our "all you can eat" main dinner items. Over 40 minutes before we ever seen one roll.
Thankfully, we had a few chicken stick apps and a advacado salad to keep us somewhat happy and wondering if the rolls were going to be worth the wait. The chicken Yaki sticks (kabobs) were awesome!!
My wife and i both ordered 3 speciality rolls off the menu.
It was about 7 pm Friday night. Less than half full of customers. Looked like 2 or 3 Sushi chefs working. At one point we were going to get up and leave but then our 2 plates with 3 rolls each arrived. They were on the large size and tasty!
I have been a Sushi City customer for a few years. That place is 3 times as big and much more busy. They only have 3 to 4 sushi chefs as well and i have never once had to wait more then 20 mins to get rolls.
I enjoyed the different menu items Sush Nova had and would rate the food quality same as Sushi City. Very tasty & good. Might even be better then Sushi City but i need to try more items before i commit to that.
I'm in Westmont so its a 3 minute commute to Sushi Nova. Much better then 13 mins to Sushi city in Downers Grove. So i will be trying this place out again soon, forsure.
Hopefully next time dinner will be served quicker. It sorta felt as the food was delayed on purpose but sure there must have been a different reason or so i hope.
There is desert here and free refills on soda. This is a big plus over Sushi City who offers neither yet fills you up with canned soda pop that you dont even get all of unless you order another. Not to mention Sushi City offers no deserts item's like Sushi Nova does.
Yes... I would recommend Susi Nova for a try.
My 4 stars reflect the huge delay in dinner being served. Not quality. I would rate quality at a solid 4.5 stars all day.
I normally can each 5 rolls but i tossed in the towl after the 3 pictured here. They filled me up after all the waiting. Maybe that's the idea on the wait. Fill up on aps and free refills. Eat less rolls lol. Thats a bit sarcastic of me to say but if you too were excited for a new place and waited as long as we did... I think its called for here.
Either way....
I will be back and figure this place out soon. Next time i will be ready for them and will be fasting for a day ahead...
Read moreI rarely like or even love sushi buffet because alot of time the restaurant will give you small peice of sushi but large rice!! This my friend give you big piece of sushi with average rice!!
Today is our second time visiting, first time was before covid. After three plus yrs I have to say same great stuff!
I will say that the first impression was good considering I don’t normally like sushi buffet lol
Average food, average sushi and average services(this is actually good because a lot of sushi buffet they will give you small piece of fish and BIG rice lol)
The only complaint. It was me, my wife and my 3yrs old.
I ordered myself a buffet for myself the wife ordered a roll. She doesn’t eat much LOL
The server said this is all you going to eat? She said yes. The waitress told us well you only ordered one buffet only the guy can eat
I was like, yes we know because I EAT, she doesn’t much lol. And she is pregnant so she cant have raw sushi LOL
At the end, charged us her roll, me for full adult and the 3yrs old kid half price. No wonder we don’t come back until now lol
So today, two adults two kid. I think the price is same as last time WHixh is a plus we all know restaurant now are rasied their price lol
Same big piece of fish with average size of rice, very nice! The server is better than last time very friendly and attentive
While the Sushi doesn't tasty as good as other sushi restaurant, if I have to rate it as a sushi buffet they are probably the best lol
They offer alot of sushi...
Read moreFor starters I don't think the food was all that bad, I just want to say that the management of this store, and the general customer services was very poor.
For starters several of items were forgotten entirely and we had to reorder.
Two, there is no coordination between the wait staff and the chefs
three, it's incredibly obvious who ever runs this store has no foresight or planning. Running out of ikura on a dinner rush on sunday maybe if we had come it at around 8-9 I would be more amenable but running out of a product at 6:30? Are you daft? The kicker was that they were also out of strawberry mochi ice cream!
It's incredibly dissapointing to order something waiting for it until the end of the meal, and seeing the table next to you get a portion(who had order later) only to be told that they have run out! Is it too hard for the wait staff to know when something is run out and tell a customer immediatly.
I have worked in customer service and there is some serious issues with how the resturant is being run and how you treat customer. Why are you letting people order things you don't have and then MAKING THEM WAIT BEFORE TELLING THEM YOU HAVE RUN OUT.
incompetent.
If you want better sushi there are plenty of places that will treat you better and have higher quality...
