Ordered online via Chow for a carry out. Don’t do this on your one hour lunch break. They may be fast at other times but not from 11:30 onward, apparently. I ordered at quarter to noon, was told the order would be ready at 12:12, and I waited until 12:20 pm (this sounds fussy but when you’re trying to get people on a lunch break a meal, it matters). It appears someone forgot to watch for Chow Orders because they didn’t print the order ticket until 12:05 pm. When I entered, they appeared to have just started my order, as I watched them adjusting my 2 raw pizzas, and discussing the “no onions” request on the sandwich. The pizza isn’t all that special- it is fine but, there’s room for improvement. Wood fired pizza is my favorite kind. The charred bits on the crust have flavor, but the crust could use salt because it tastes flat. They did get the chewy crust texture about right. The regular sauce is “meh” and a bit flat. It’s okay. The spinach prosciutto pie was a let down. I added goat cheese (it helped, but they were super stingy with it- if you order goat cheese, you want more than little snowflakes of it. I’d be shocked if it had 1.5 Tablespoons on the pie). Goat cheese and spinach go together very well and their spinach was nice and flavorful. But they should have added more regular cheese like they do on their neopolitan, then these ingredients. The Proscuitto was a let down- the salty flavor wasn’t there, it was like eating sad, bland ham (and super pale tells me this wasn’t aged much), but the ham is cut into small squares, whereas the sheets of proscuitto end up dominating the first bite, and then there’s no more proscuitto left on the slice. It’s unmanageable (but most places make this mistake bc they want you to see its proscuitto, so they leave the slice too large- at least do strips so we have some left for other bites). The fans of fancy mozzarella they added were too little and added little but looked nice. Overall, it was a good pizza that should have been a great pizza. I also got a specialty pizza with bacon, regular rooms and ports, plus ham. They did a lovely job on the bacon because that smoky bacon goodness was in every bite consistently, even if you couldn’t see the bacon (but it didn’t overpower the other flavors- bacon nirvana achieved!). The ports have distinct flavor but again, I don’t want a 5 inch long ingredient flapping off the pie, threatening to fall on my blouse. I don’t need the contour of a port to know I’m eating portabello. Toppings should be distributed evenly in a way that you get the concert, not a bunch of solos. If you want happy people, give a realistic timetable from dough to out the door. The operator should know their actual capacity to produce food and the many variables in production that affect same (peak times, and staffing etc) so quit...
Read moreEdit: a manager from the restaurant asked me to email him the details of my visit so he could refund me for my visit. It’s now been two months, and about three follow up emails to him, haven’t heard a thing back. Empty promises! I would have bumped this review up a star had he followed through on his word, but he hasn’t even responded. So much for customer service, Craig!
Well, I had seen mixed reviews about this place when researching beforehand, and still decided to go. Atmosphere is very nice, family friendly, staff is friendly too. I ordered the veggie pizza, and it almost seemed undercooked in the middle, but thought nothing of it because of the sauce to crust ratio… figured it was softened crust from the amount of sauce (and it could have been!). Unfortunately I had severe stomach cramping when I got home and it’s now 14 hours later and i’m still dealing with what I presume is food poisoning. No way to prove it of course, but lining everything up timeline wise, it makes sense. Looking back also, I wasn’t amazed by the pizza and only had a couple slices which tells me maybe something in my body was telling me to stop eating. Unfortunately I will not be back, and that’s $20 I won’t get back. But wanted to leave a review because this is likely a one off situation, and i’m sure this place is usually 5 star worthy! FYI...
Read moreO-M-G! My boss n I went to check it out because we were in the mood for pizza. Oh boy! This place did not disappoint! Tons of different pizza options and you can create your own as well. The fact that they are oven made in front of you is awesome! The oven takes up almost all the space is the kitchen, it's huge! Pizza tastes amazing! The cashier was super courteous, patient, and helpful. We ended up getting two individual pizzas, one was BBQ chicken & Smoked Gouda and the other was italian sausage & peppers, and each of us got fountain drinks. That was enough for us. Super filling. Both pizzas were so different and yet super delicious! Just the right balance of bread and toppings. I loved that the BBQ was just enough to taste but the sauce did not overpower the whole pizza. The Italian sausage was spicy and tasty. Plenty of space to seat. Parking is a bit hard, street parking. Close to the Wheaton Metra station. You gotta try it! Apparently they haven't been around the area that long but seem to be...
