One of my parents' favorite places when they come to visit. The food is great, especially the sushi. But we went tonight for my dad's birthday and when I mentioned it to the server, she immediately tried to sell us the most expensive things on the menu and it was blatantly obvious. When we were eating our appetizer, she was hovering in a kind of creepy way, trying to get us to place our dinner order and not letting us enjoy what we were eating. Before we even got our entrées, she poured out the entire bottle of wine into our glasses in an effort to get us to order another bottle, and ended up giving my mom a huge pour. My mom isn't a big drinker and it also left my dad with less of the bottle than anyone else. We ordered a second appetizer and she disappeared without giving us new plates after the first ones were cleared. And when she was clearing dinner plates off the table, she was stacking them all in front of us on the table, kind of making a mess. If you're going to clear plates without a tray, take what you can immediately carry and come back for the others (I was a server in my college days). When she realized that we weren't going to be a super expensive table, it seemed like she was almost rushing us, clearing the dinner plates before my dad was done. When she reached over to get my mom's plate, I saw her sleeve go in my dad's fish. Open-handed service!
Everything else was great, especially the other servers who brought food and extra appetizer plates to us. And I love all the booths and the fact that they designed the restaurant with sound-dampening features so it's easy to have a conversation. But the service was definitely...
Read moreWhen we arrived, we were seated in a booth that we didn't care for and were immediately put in a different booth. Our drink orders were taken, but a possible miscommunication resulted in a delay of a server coming to take our order. Catching the eye of an extremely efficient waiter named Grant, he proceeded to immediately take care of us. We were given a loaf of the most delicious rosemary bread gratis for the delay. The manager came over to apologize for the delay, and our food was served without delay. My friend's fish was a little undercooked, and she asked if it could be cooked a bit longer. She was given a new, fully cooked dinner, and another manager came to see if all was okay with her dish. When the bill arrived, we found that her meal had been taken off the bill!! I cannot heap enough praise on Grant, and the management at Ditka's. The service has ALWAYS been superior, the food delicious and served in a timely manner with waitstaff being respectful, prompt and pleasant. This night was the only time we've ever experienced any type of problem. We will continue to visit Ditka's and I have recommended this restaurant to many...
Read moreThe staff was great and observant. Our waitress was Emily, and she was awesome. But other members of the team help out so willingly! We interacted with so many staff members, and they were all very nice, pleasant, and friendly. The wait staff alone deserves 5 plus stars. Our drinks and food were good. The luxardo lemonade was so good! The potato soup for the night was unbelievably good! My group could have eaten it all night. We also had the Mike's salad. Fresh crunchy salad! Love it, especially the candied pecan! Southwest Protein Bowl was so GOOD even without the Chipotle dressing on it. I prefer the bowl without dressing. The salad mixture with the Pico de gallo and corn, black bean salsa, was fresh and well seasoned. Avocados were bright green and had no dark spots. Blackened chicken was cooked to perfection and still moist! We had two plates of the Berkshire pork chops, and the only issue was we wanted more! 10 oz of pure deliciousness! We truly appreciate the wonderful wait staff during our visit on...
