As a tourist to the area, I was a little surprised by this place. I would call it artisanal sushi. I would also share Whitefish, Montana has a resort tax of approximately 3%. We did not know this was a thing for this town.
My husband had miso soup to start. I will say it was a good portion serving. What is surprising, and I overheard another customer say this, miso soup should not have sesame seeds in it. I am very big on declared allergens, and with sesame being one of the 9, I was surprise at how often it was used and not declared, including in the soup. The vegetable tempura, what can I say. Half of the vegetables were broccoli. I kid you not. I do not eat broccoli, so my husband does it for me. We spent the majority of the time picking them out. He hardly got to taste anything else. There were maybe 2 or 3 brussel sprouts and the same in mushroom. After the broccoli in quantity, there were cauliflower followed by carrots. A few of the carrots were not as soft as I would have expected. Overall, the veggie tempura order was a letdown in selection. As for the preparation, I think the dish has potential if the correct vegetables are chosen in the future. Sweet potato, cucumber, and bell pepper slices, these are things which would add assortment to what was given. The Maki, rolled sushi. What to say. The flavors are unique. The google maps photo of the menu is out of date. I looked at the order online descriptions while writing this, and it is also an old version. One of the sushi rolls had a slightly slimey texture. I believe it was the fish. The tempura in another was hard and super crunchy. I could hardly tell the tempura was shrimp inside. I am used to a plump shrimp, which reminds you what you ordered. The "love sauce" is what you would expect it to be. A yellow-orange slightly spicy sauce used to top rolls. I would also like to mention sesame is added or cross contaminated on the rolls. If you have an issue with sesame, buyer be ware.
Service, what can I say here, too? Snarky is the word that comes to mind. Snarky to customers wanting to do takeout and to people dining in. Although I will say, the takeout wanted to sit at a table. Water refill had to be asked for. No one asked if I wanted a refill on my paid drink. Water was not received until the check arrived. The glass had been sitting at the end of the table for over half the meal. They did ask if we wanted a dessert, though. Overall, the meal was $40 per person, which was more than I would have...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of experiencing Indah for my birthday. It is a pleasure to be able to write a post that far exceeds a five star review. Indah Sushi has by far the freshest selection that we have ever experienced. We are originally from Southern California and we have experienced a lot of sushi restaurants, and to find that the best sushi that we have ever had is in whitefish is a great surprise to say the least. We started off with happy hour. They have an AmaZing selection of Saki. We chose and recommend Huckleberry Haze Saki. Oh My Gosh!!! And have you ever tried sushi tacos? We haven’t until now and It is a must! The tuna and the salmon are divine. Also… Each of the roles that we tried California Love, Ahi Jewel, Platinum and Spicy Tuna were so delicious, fresh, beautifully displayed and the sizes we so generous and it was all so reasonably priced! We need to also add that the big eye tuna and the tenderloin nigiri phenomenal!! Now we can go on and on about the food, but we want to let you know about the experience and the service. Jeff was our server. Not only was he kind and knowledgeable, he treated us like we’ve been friends forever. We would like to give a shout out to everyone at Indah that evening. Thank you to Jeff, Jordan, Alexia, Brandon, Chase and owner Tiffany, who must be so proud to have such a wonderful staff that she can trust to run her business as if it was their own. In ending… we live 2 1/2 hours away and though we have good sushi an hour to our nearest city - When the sushi crave hits (which is often), we will make the drive to Indah and make an entire evening of it. David & Lu want to thank Indah for providing us with a wonderful post honeymoon and birthday...
Read moreThe sushi here was pretty good, but don’t expect to get it in a reasonable amount of time. We waited almost 90 minutes to get our order. It was fairly busy, but didn’t seem like the staff was overwhelmed. Certainly could have used more help, but it was frustrating when some people arrived and sat at the sushi bar who made friends with the sushi chefs and got their order faster than us. They received their food about 15 minutes after ordering while we continued to wait another 30 mins for the order we placed 45 minutes before they even got there. Guess it’s “who” you know.” “Thanks for your patience” was the only explanation we received when our 4 rolls finally showed up. Shortly after the order finally came, I asked one of the staff as she passed by for some additional ginger since we only received about half a dozen pieces. My wife commented “there’s no way she’s going to remember that”, and she was right as she promptly forgot and we finally had to ask someone else. She refilled my wife water afterward without even knowing she forgot. I also noticed that our rolls (and several others that I had observed for the 90 minutes I’d been waiting there) sat on the counter for more than 10 minutes waiting to be delivered to their respective tables. The staff seemed unorganized and confused and the music was blaring in the interior dining room. Everyone was yelling to try to hear each other. Unfortunately it’s going to be tough to find our...
