Axehead — Local services in Whitefish

I love this place! My wife and I made our first trip to Whitefish in January 2021. We took a day off from the mountains and explored the small town to find Randy & Trina, owners of Axehead. They were incredibly friendly and made us feel like family the moment we walked in. After choosing a hat style, a leather emblem to be attached we had great conversation about the town, traveling and what they offer. I wear that hat year round. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago we made another trip to Whitefish for snowboarding with some friends. My intent was to stop in and see Randy and Trina and of course get another hat. Our last day in town we stopped in. I think we bought 7 hats total that day. Two more for me, one for my wife and the rest for some friends and family. We got to the airport and the lady at the gate says, I see you’ve been by my favorite store in Whitefish, Axehead. She knew just from the hat I was wearing where it came from. I get lots of compliments in Texas on my hat(s). Great people, awesome quality....

My boyfriend and I were visiting Whitefish for a short trip. We went to breakfast one morning, and ended up sparking up a conversation with the man sitting next to us about the food on the menu. Before we knew it, we had talked to him the whole time at breakfast! His name was Randy and he was so kind and welcoming. He told us he owned a shop in Whitefish but it was closed that day (Sunday). We mentioned we were visiting from Lake Tahoe and only here for another day but would love to see his shop, so he offered to walk over with us after breakfast to open it up and let us see. It was AWESOME. He never made us feel pressured to buy anything, but was so fun and professional and explained all of his products. My boyfriend was wanting a hat from our Montana trip, so he helped him customize one. I absolutely recommend this spot to anyone and everyone. Oh my gosh from start to finish walking into Axehead was a treat! We were greeted with a warm welcome by the owner Randy. His expansive collection of hats, beanies, and custom leather gift sets was impressive. The best part is we got to pick out a hat and then a fun custom patch that he attached right there. Of course the whole time he was filling us in on stories of Montana and how he and his wife make and design the patches and custom embroidery. As if we weren't already having fun, he had us pause and walked us through a Cowboy Whiskey Chew! Told us fun facts about Montana Cowboys and had us all engaged and laughing. I can't say how special this store was for us. We just stumbled in and Randy took the time to create such a special memory for us all.
