Mimo's Cafe — Restaurant in Whittier

Gonna have to grade this place 3 stars. Gal working the register not great on customer service..bit standoffish. Might have been having a bad day, but shouldn't pass it on to paying customers. Second grievance, I don't care what a person's home status is...if they come in and buy a cup of coffee from your establishment they are a paying customer, a patron treat them as such. Don't give them dirty looks from inside your cafe while they sit and read and drink their coffee. They might not have much, but they spent $2.50 on a cup of your coffee (that is beyond burnt, I'm military..ours is stiff..yours is Burnt!!) He was a gentleman, he was nice, kept to himself and wasn't a pain. Guy with glasses (I'm assuming this is your diner. You wiped down his table all over topside. Underside. You wiped down his chair. (More of a wipe down than most hospitals) but all the other chairs got nothing and barely a flyby to wipe spilled coffee off mine. No restrooms, kind of a toss up too. I have my food at my table..I have to grab all my stuff walk across the street to the "public restrooms" when I come back..table clean...I just needed to wash the sticky stuff off my hands from my table you didn't wipe. The only nice experience having here today, was the very nice, polite and pretty waitress who pulled off Rosie the Riveter look stunningly. To you, young lady, Thank you for bringing an upbeat...

Pandemic era review:

Good food; I wish it came with more (I eat a lot). Lots of menu items to choose from. Fresh baked goods. Scooped ice cream available. Outdoor seating available. If you're new, type in your phone number for reward points; get a free coffee when you sign up. Pricing is average for Whittier. Okay view. Waiters are decent but they forgot an item when I left. I came back since I was nearby; they had the rest of my order waiting.

The pastrami sandwich comes with a hefty amount of pastrami, very tasty!!! The carne asada fries were great, but I really wish it didn't come with sauce. I think it would be great without the zesty sauce. Maybe grill the steak with some fresh pepper and it'll be fine :) even better, grind a bunch a from pepper corns over the entire dish 🤤 I was surprised I almost wasn't able to finish them together; these two are a great combo to eat together, but no sauce for me next time.

I would definitely try this place again; I'd likely...

I ordered fries and a diet soda, the manager took the order and I went to the cashier to pay. I didn't see who filled my soda, but I noticed on my receipt that it said Pepsi. I am diabetic, and don't drink regular soda, so I asked Leslie (the cashier) to check if my drink was diet. She didn't respond so I asked again. She looked irritated so I tried to explain the reason why I needed to be sure. Instead of checking, she asked who took my order and said, if you ordered diet, then it's diet. So, again, I tried to explain that the receipt didn't say diet so I needed to be sure. Leslie was very rude and took my soda to remade to ensure it was diet. When I tried talking to the manager, he told me it's too busy today to ask staff for "those things". After explaining my reasons, he was neither understanding nor helpful. He walked away, saying I don't know what...
