Winchell's Donut House — Restaurant in Whittier

I was in the area for work and realized nothing close to here is open before 8am... I was VERY HAPPY to find Winchell's and get some donuts before my workday started.

I popped in here very early one day, the cases were loaded with donuts and pastries. GREAT selection. I ordered 1/2 dozen with a variety in case my coworkers also had trouble finding food. I was also excited to see they had donut holes - glazed only. I ordered 1 to eat as an instant snack! It was delicious! I later ended up eating a chocolate long john and a blueberry cake donut and both were really good. I liked that they have a lighter texture versus heavy and the frosting was tasty.

There is some street parking and a very small lot. The lot is not well lit overnight so know that. There is some seating inside. Service was good, but we did have a language difference and so questions weren't able to be answered.

I would stop by here again and will definitely get a bag of the donut holes...

Went in today for a late night meal deal Hot chicken sandwich and a drink and donut " Mind you i was alreasy waiting for bout 10 mins The two lady's that worked there spoke no clear English It was hard trying to explain what I wanted without her looking over her shoulder for help , the server who was helping me was chewing whatever she was eating, never wore gloves to prepare food , never heated my sandwich up and gave me black forest ham My lemonade , which was a fountain drink tasted so water down it was nasty The donut holes were dried up I went back and mentioned my order was wrong they phone called the manager and made a scene back and fourth while being on phone the whole time . After all set and down I got refunded my money but it was the worst...

Gotta say, we went in for a bagle for my daughter, a bagle!?! It was later in the evening-ish hrs., 4-5 pm Sunday. And surprisingly they still had a real good selection of donuts. Commonly at that time they only have a 3rd of a rack of dried out sugar rings. BTW: Some colors, I've never seen like blue, and they had mini donuts that matched the bigger versions. All looked fresh...crumb donuts, chocolate, sprinkles every where, you name it, it was late and they were there.

Kinda gettin' hungry just writing this review.

It's a tiny 1 hallway of a store on the corner of Hadley & Greenleaf and it's been there a long, long time... Might be a good...
