Barbarita's Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in Wichita Falls

The atmosphere is pretty good and I'm sure it's much better during peak hours. I came in during early dinner on a Thursday and it was DEAD, but the decor and overall environment is nice.

The service was really lacking, the waitress did not sound or look like she wanted to be there at all. Did not make us feel welcome at all. She got our drink order wrong. Didn't check how the food was.

Where this place really loses all points is the food. I'm sorry (not really), but this is the worst Mexican food I've had in the immediate 50 mile radius. I had the tacos al pastor. They had at LEAST 50% chunks of fat. It came with a side of refried beans - they tasted like from a cheap can, and so did the red rice. We also had the chimichanga. It was NOT deep fried, whatsoever. And the chicken was pulled, which made the whole dish feel soggy and gross. The white queso on top was not good. EVERYTHING tasted cheap and superficial. I also had a Horchata which, again, tasted like cheap and artificial. Like they got the cheapest powder mix at the cheapest store and that's how they made it. Even the house salsa was SUPER WATERED down. Worst salsa I've had in the area.

As always, i don't tell you what to do. But i personally will take ANY other Mexican food place around the Wichita Falls area if I want some...

Arrived and waited a bit to get seated, once we were seated it took a good 10-15mins just for our drink order. We ordered our food, and got it 30+ mins later. Two of us got tortas, another got the chicken quesadilla plate and another got the huevos rancheros. The tortas came out first, then 5-7mins later the chicken quesadilla plate came out. What seemed like another 10-15mins went by by the time the huevos rancheros plate came out, we had to ask the hostess to check on the plate because it was taking that long. The beans were dry, the rice tasted old and half cooked. The only good things going for the place was the decor & music. We only saw 3 waiters and the hostess, the place wasn’t very busy at all so we weren’t sure why everything took so long from the beginning to the end. We did take into consideration that maybe there was only one cook in the back but then again if that were to be the case- at least let the customers know in advance, it’s better to lose business for just that one time instead of not telling them, having them wait and wait, not be satisfied and end up with a bad review that will cost you to lose more business in the future. The staff could also use more customer service training on how to speak more properly...

Update: 8-8-25(Friday night) Had dinner for 2. Double plate of Chicken fajitas, beans/rice, sour cream, Pico and cheese. Shared it with the wife. And had plenty to take home. We both had drinks(Modelo Black and a Long Island Iced Tea.) The mixed drink was a little weak so if you need something that'll smack dat ass, you might wanna ask for an extra shot🤣. The bar area had a DJ playing with a nice crowd. Maybe even a little karaoke happening! 🤘🏽. Overall the atmosphere was was nice and inviting and the staff did well at assisting patrons. I will continue to go back.

(December 2024)Had dinner with a party of 8 and was pleased with the service, atmosphere, and food. Servers were pleasant and made sure we were taken care of throughout our dining experience. The food tasted great and was fresh. The salsa bar was interesting(you help yourself), and there were plenty of options. Areas for dining are separated, so you don't have to listen to too much patron chattering nearby. That was a plus for me.

The atmosphere was moderately lit and included nice hanging wall art. I would definitely go back. Our dining experience was on a Saturday...
