Today was the first time I'd eaten at this location since the restaurant reopened. The service we received was very good, and the remodel of the dining room was a nice refresh from the previous decor. Those were the best things and only real positives about our dining experience today. I give one star for each. The quality of food under the new ownership/name leaves a lot to be desired. The table salsa to me is a bellweather of what one can expect from the food quality at a Mexican restaurant. It was bland and uninspiring; very mild and lacked a good mix of flavors. It was essentially pureed tomatoes with a few chunks of onion, an occasional flake of cilantro and barely a hint of jalapeno. Too mild for my taste. The menu is typical Tex-Mex fare. My favorite dish to have under the restaurant's previous ownership was the lunch portion Chimichanga. It's on the new menu so I ordered it with the "shredded beef" option. I was disappointed with this meal. The chimi itself was much smaller than what used to be served, and as presented, appeared overcooked. The inside was ground, not shredded beef, and was only lightly seasoned, not nearly as flavorful as expected. The sides that it came with were typically portioned and about as expected. My dining companions each ordered a different meal and seemed equally unimpressed with them. Sorry new owners, but you'll need to step up your game in the kitchen to win back...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I walked in, got seated, and our waitress come and take our order. After she took it, she sat next to us at the bar on her phone with her other coworkers. I’m a picky eater so I had ordered a bean and cheese burrito with fries. When the food got to us she brought me rice and asked if we needed anything else. I didn’t think anything of it because burritos usually come with rice so just thought the fries were on the way still. She went straight back to the bar table and sat on her phone again. I moved the rice to the edge of the table as I wasn’t going to eat it. When she came back we had told her I ordered fries not rice, and she tried to argue and say no you ordered rice. She then took the rice and went back to her coworkers, and for about the rest of the time we were there was just trash talking us about it to them. We were not rude when telling her there was a mistake but she had a bad attitude and approach about it. I didn’t catch her name, or look on the receipt but I know her name started with an R and was a...
Read moreReading the mixed reviews might have changed my intent to dine here for the Father's day weekend . Glad I didn't read them. I had friends tell me the food was good and we also found that to be the case. We ordered guacamole to go with our chips. It wasn't prepared table side , but it was freshly made. The chips weren't warm as I prefer them , but most places don't serve them that way as well. Now for what will bring us back , the Cinco Amigos fajitas for two. A heaping sizzling platter of pork carnitas, chicken, steak ,shrimp and Mexican sausage with squash, zucchini, mushrooms, onions and peppers. It was wonderfully seasoned and for the first time we enjoyed chorizo that wasn't overpowering. The only thing I might add to the side plate would be cheese , but I honestly didn't miss it. I don't usually eat the mexican rice but it was moist and well seasoned. My wife is from Ft.Worth and eating TexMex is a monthly requirement , so we'll be back to try...
