Delicious and pretty. Thursdays are half priced hot sake.
Found a new favorite. The Gyudon Beef Bowl.
I'm not a fat person it's always been disgusting for me, but here I see the appreciation. The fat is slivered along with the beef and it must be marinated or something because it is ridiculously savory. Piled high with onions over rice, paired with Miso Soup and pickled ginger. 🫠🫠🫠
My favorite is to start with the Miso, then to eat the rice with the pickled ginger and save the beef for last. 😔 God bless, Wasabi East. 🙏
One of my favorite rolls I prefer without tobiko(fish eggs). It is called the Mango Habanero Roll it comes with mango, shrimp tempura, rolled in rice topped with salmon avocado, mango habanero sauce, and tobiko. I love it for its robust protein, but also for the contrast of sweet mango and spicy habanero. I left a photo attached. The Date is June 28th, 2025. It's been a year since we ate here. They have a new menu, but our favorites are still here. We ordered the monster ball, its a favorite which we can't find anywhere else, I ordered the sunset, and she ordered the baked lobster roll. We've had two sakes, and I just ordered the Kama(Salmon). I'm reminded of the memories we had when we would come here every Thursday for the half priced sake. I miss this place more than I thought. Seeing how lively this place is makes me overjoyed. It's truly the most fresh and most genuine sushi place I've ever been to. I dont know the names of those who take such good care of all of us, but I respect the hell out of them and I hope you get the chance to experience the passion they put into the work they do as well. I'm usually pretty critical or quiet of most places I've been to. I have nothing but love for Wasabi East in...
Read moreWe have been patrons of Wasabi for many years and I could not hardly believe the mishandling of our recent order and the lack of care that followed! Not sure what has changed but the management currently in place simply lacks Customer Service and Training skills - because not only was the employee not willing to make things right with our order that was made incorrectly - but the manager did not care as well. The unfortunate part of the whole thing is that the errors with our entres were probably simple inputting or preparation mistakes - Our Teriyaki Chicken was made without any Teriyaki Sauce and Chicken Noodles which should've had No Noodles (due to my Egg Allergy) and Extra Veggies had Noodles and No Extra Veggies... Both issues could have been easily fixed, had we been given the option of simply remaking the entres correctly for us - but that option was sadly never given to us! It is quite disappointing to see such a well-known establishment practice such little care when there is a clear opportunity to turn a negative situation easily around. With so many similar Japanese restaurants in Wichita now, I would encourage anyone reading this post to still visit Wasabi; if you are willing to take a chance on receiving Poor Service (if and when something goes wrong with your order), but to also explore all the other fantastic options we have in our city - because they care about your patronage and dining experience... as should...
Read moreFor a long time this was the sushi that was available on the East side but I have had so many disappointing meals here- I am not going back to the East side Wasabi again. Now we have the wonderful Sapporo (Rock & Kellogg) and Sakura (in Andover). Both places cost less but try harder & have more delightful food. My complaints are... a general lack of interest by the staff, pretty slow service, Very High Prices for what you get, sushi is super heavy on the outer rice & light on the inner ingredients, and the WORST Sea Urchin (Uni) that I have ever eaten. I actually told my friends at the table that the VERY EXPENSIVE Uni was horrible & that if I later got deathly ill to tell the ER it was the sea urchin from Wasabi. They should NOT serve old raw seafood- period! Once you put the item in your mouth- you swallow or you have to rudely spit it out. I have NEVER ONCE IN MY LIFE have been in this position before. I have never had any piece of sushi in my mouth make me question if I should spit it out or not ( & I eat "advanced" sushi!) This is not the first time I have questioned the freshness of the seafood here. Maybe it is because I eat many items that typical sushi diners do not order? Well, it does not matter- every item should be fresh or not served. I told the waitress the Uni was "not right"- she did nothing - didn't apologize- charged me full price- did not seem to go tell the Itamae/Sushi Chef- she just...
