Our experience at Concorde was overall not good. We had a reservation for 2 for indoors for the evening to enjoy a few dessert drinks after dinner as it had been pretty windy all day and chilly in the evening. Not only were we not seated indoors, we were also seated with another party, despite there being several two person tables open none of which were filled by the time we left. Not a huge deal, the people we were seated with were lovely and it was warmer by the fire tables, but we did ask to sit indoors so there's that. You order via qr code and are asked to tip automatically. I wasn't sure the level of customer interaction we'd receive so I did provide a small tip. The answer was none. Someone dropped off the drinks 15 minutes after they were ordered and that was the entire level of interaction we received. No other engagement from staff at all. Not sure why a tip is needed for that. The drinks themselves were not good. Each person at our table, including the other party members ordered something different and no one enjoyed their drinks. The drinks were either too bitter, not mixed well, or weren't well thought out ingredient wise. The garden area was pretty, but I have to wonder if the fire Marshal checked out these fire pit tables. There is no enclosure over the fire, the flames were high and moved with the wind, and the table space is narrow since they insist on cramming 6 people into each table. The wind was blowing towards the other party so the fire heated up their glasses so they couldn't lift their drinks and melted the chocolate for their s'mores while it was still in the packaging. I realize this place is new, but they fail to understand that bringing in new customers is not the only success you need for a business. You also need to retain customers, and I think they have a lot of work to do if they want people to come for the hype but then also come back. They didn't manage to retain customers from either party at our table last night. There's no reason for me to return with the bad drinks, lack of private seating, non existent customer engagement, and the threat of being...
Read moreHmmmm, where do I begin with this critique? Concord Espresso Bar offers a variety of flavors, seasonal drinks, and great service for any Wilmington patron near and far. The decor reminds me of a simpler time of coffee shops, espresso colored tables mixed with the white walls keeps me focused on the tastes of my iced latte that I always order. The staff brings an inviting environment. They always engage in friendly and warm banter, giving semblance of a newly found companion. Although the encounter is brief, it brings a delightful addition to the experience. The cafe offers a variety of seating, from a cozy lounge area, finished with velvet chairs and couches, to a vast and spacious patio complete with fire pits for roasting marshmallows, simple romantic ambiance for a brand new couple, or just warm comfort for a familiar memory. But, as with every establishment, there are negatives. The first one that comes to mind are the pastries. Even as remarkable as they are, as I bite into the sweet lemon croissant, I can’t help but believe that the seven to ten dollars I spent has washed down the drain, and I am left with an intense grief known as buyer’s remorse. My next and final complaint; the music. As much as I love the decor and most of the ambiance, the aching, ear shattering noise of the stomp clap era of music screams throughout the whole facility, reminding the patrons of the terrible late 2010s where simplified, overused, washed up lyrics were belted non stop on radio. As I try to relax, my spine crawls with disgust as Mumford and Sons violate my ear drums, making me want to chug my latte, pack up, and sprint towards the exit. As much as I love to support this business, I must bring my earplugs to save myself from the haunting voices singing about being a “little boy” and washing away with “rivers and roads” to get back to their lovers. Overall, Concord Espresso Bar gets a 3/5 for me. The coffee, ambiance, and customer service keeps me coming back, but I would be remiss if I ignored the terrible music beating me over the head like a hammer and the baked goods...
Read moreTried out Concorde last night and just wanted to share our experience. Aesthetically this bar is super cute and way bigger than I first thought! My husband made reservations for the two of us and upon getting seated we were told we were not allowed to do the s'mores experience at our table because of the fire detector. This made complete sense to us even though we were super bummed as this was why we wanted to check them out, so we settled with the Martini flight. The Martini flight drinks are fantastic and I highly recommend giving them a try! As we were waiting on our drinks the table behind us in the small room we were in got s'mores at their table, my husband and I were shocked as we thought they weren't allowing that in the whole room due to the fire detectors. Well the fire alarm went off, the staff was super quick to get it taken care of, not a big deal. We ordered another round of drinks after finishing the martini flight, the Mai Tai and the passion fruit martini, and it took over 30 minutes to get them. While we were waiting, another table in our section also got this s'mores experience, which set the fire alarm off again. At this point we started getting a little annoyed as to why everyone else in our section could do the s'mores experience except our specific table even though they were all setting off the alarm. As far as we could see, every table in this establishment could do the s'mores experience but the specific one we were sat at. The Mai Tai drink was amazing, but I can't say the same for the passion fruit martini. After the long wait to get these drinks we ended up just chugging them paying our check and leaving pretty annoyed. Maybe we'll give them another try when it warms up and we can actually try the s'mores experience outside. All in all the drinks are very expensive, so if we were going out again for just drinks we would probably go...
