Went in to Jimbo's for the Quiche that I keep seeing on their signs....I LOVE Quiche! My 1st & LAST visit......Hostess had an awful attitude.....despite the Quiche I've seen on their sign all week long....they don't often have quiche...Okay....just take it off your outdoor signs. Ordered a Western Omelet w/ my onions & peppers sauteed (it is not only better, but easier on my stomach) w/ hash browns, extra crispy...my husband gets country sausage (that has been described to him as the big thick patties) eggs & biscuit & gravy. My omelet was paper thin, and they would not sautee my onions & peppers. My hash browns were mushy so I asked if they could please cook them a little longer....so they dropped them in the deep fryer (not only could I taste the awful old deep fryer grease...but it came back in one deep fried glob). My biscuit was COLD and so dry it crumbled. Needless to say my husband's biscuit was them same....there was no way that the bland runny paste that they served as gravy would even begin to give them any moisture. The sausage that was describe as the "nice, big thick country sausage patty"...was a big fat link of something...not sure what....but it definately was no where near a patty. His soft scrambled eggs that he ordered were cold and WAY over cooked. No one would refill his coffee....I had to basically holler across the diner to get some one to refill my water. I sent my breakfast back & had it removed from the check. Then as my husband is eating, we're listening to the wait staff talk about how the covered danishes on the bar "looked like someone had been back there nibbling on stuff again"....EWW!!! So for $14.85....my husband got 2 over-cooked eggs, a cold/dry/hard mixture of flour& water they called 1 biscuit, paste & water w/ remenants of sausage they called gravy & coffee. I have been wanting to try this place since we moved here a few years ago....my husband & I LOVE going out for a good breakfast. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL....and NOT worth the price...and most ot the employees had awful attitudes. Although our waitress was nice....she was NOT a bit concerned about our satisfaction of the food that we were spending our hard earned money on...didn't even care if we had nothing to drink. Now that we're home in Rocky Point....my husband has...
Read moreBeen coming here ever since my college days. And, like any old diner, you know what to expect: decent food for a decent price. What I didn't expect, however, was the poor service...right from the beginning, nonetheless.
Our server (older lady, blonde/gray hair) started off with a less than chipper presentation of her overall attitude. Spoiler: her monotone and begrudging demeanor carried on throughout the entire duration. After being seated for a few minutes, our server seemed annoyed that we needed a bit more time to decide on our meals. Upon returning, I inquired about the fruit biscuits on special (none of which were listed on the menu, only the front door via hand-written sign, and our server lacked to up-sell/mention them). I asked if the strawberries were fresh, to which our server said "yes." She also said that it came drizzled with icing/glaze. I asked if they came individually, to which she said "no." She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted one or two. (Umm...that's what individually means). Later, I saw her awkwardly pull the berries from the freezer bucket that they store them in-- awkward, because she noticed that we caught her in her lie. The biscuit was nearly $4 for mushy berries and no drizzle. (Pro tip: don't make up things just to make a sale, especially when your customers can witness it). She must have known this was wrong, because she dropped our food off without saying a word (no "does everything look okay?" or "is there anything else I can get you?"), and practically ran away without making eye contact with us. During the next 10 or so minutes, she never once came back to check on us to ask if the food was good, or anything of standard server nature. I ate half of my food, with my glass completely empty, before deciding to just give up and leave. I just wish the experience went differently, because I am usually very understanding, working in the business myself, but it was just one thing after the other, unfortunately.
The other server that was working with her last night seemed to be all inclusive on pricing, food description, politeness, protocol, and pleasantries. If I go back from now on, I suppose I'll just be more choosy and cautious...
Read moreJimbo’s Breakfast & Lunch is exactly the kind of spot you hope to find when you’re craving hearty, classic diner-style comfort food.
The waffles are the star here—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served with plenty of toppings. The strawberry waffle piled high with whipped cream is a sweet indulgence, while the plain waffle with sides of bananas, strawberries, and whipped cream lets you build it your way.
The savory options hold their own too. From golden grilled cheese with ham and melted cheddar, to fresh omelets loaded with veggies or spinach and topped with hot sauce, every plate feels homemade. The hash browns are crispy and well-seasoned, and the grits with melted cheese and butter are the kind of comfort food that takes you straight back to childhood breakfasts.
For something heartier, the fried pork chops with collard greens, rice & gravy, and a roll prove Jimbo’s can handle lunch just as well as breakfast. Generous portions, flavorful sides, and that home-style touch make it worth every bite.
The vibe is simple and welcoming—classic diner plates, no frills, just good food that keeps you full and satisfied. Service is friendly and efficient, keeping the experience relaxed and comfortable.
