Joyful Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Wilmington

Ever since I started working in downtown Wilmington, I searched wide and far for a chinese food spot for lunch. Not only does Joyful Garden offer the convenience of online ordering, they give you a 5% discount for ordering online. Also, repeat customers can redeem a stamped "rewards card" for a free meal after so many orders. Of course the food isn't authentic chinese food, but it certainly does the job of filling you up, all while tasting pretty darn good. My go-to lunch orders are Chicken/Beef with Garlic Sauce, Szechuan Chicken/Beef or General Tsos Chicken. I'd avoid the egg rolls as they are quite anaemic when it comes to the filling. Where else can you get a full meal and drink for $6 in downtown Wilmington? The staff are always working hard and fast to get orders out as fast as possible, especially during lunchtime. I have yet had a negative experience with respect to waiting for my order. My order is always ready within 15 minutes...

First and last time I order from this place. Co-workers and I ordered lunch from here and all were dissapointed. The brown rice was hard like it was days old. I got the Kung Pao Shrimp which is typically shrimp, bell peppers, chili peppers, scallions and peanuts tossed in a spicy sauce. Now most restaurants have their variation but this was by far the worst. It was literally a sea of celery, with a few bits of carrot, some shrimp and peanuts and 3, yes I counted, 3 pieces of bell pepper in a flavor and heat lacking sauce, along with my hard and dry brown rice. The only highlight was the crab rangoon which was pretty good but not enough to carry the entire meal to a passable standard or forget the fact that delivery took well...

I called, placed an order for delivery at 8;02 call was 3 minutes; time for delivery was 30-40 minutes! 8:35-8:45! I called back 3 times to check my order was told driver was out! I received my order WRONG AND COLD AS HELL! Called back spoke to manager Chen or Jen! I told her replace my order immediately come and get this order! I use to enjoy their food but the last couple times my order has been incorrect! Now the manager tells me she has to call to issue credit to my card! I told her you didn’t call anyone to accept my card and protocol dictates you credit my card!

Purchase at your own risk to be hungry and not cooking because you are packing up or working! Wrong order...
