Might As Well Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Wilmington

DON'T COME HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE IN A CHILL, INCLUSIVE ATMOSPHERE. I've been here twice and each time the service has been atrocious and the last time the bar was slow and had opened merely an hour before I got there, so there's no excuse. I hate to be this person but....they DO NOT treat all their patrons fairly.

TDLR: In a time of inflation and recession, don't waste your money on the food, don't expect good service if you don't look rich, and there are BETTER places that appreciate mixed crowds, and have no problem delivering excellent service to all their patrons.

My experience:

Our server, K, (I won't reveal her real name), spent more time flirting with her other tables, and chopping it up at the bar, than giving us attentive service.

She didn't even write down our order when we placed it....and of course it came out wrong.

We waited 30 minutes for two hamburgers and fries + a slice of pizza. During which time, our drinks were not refilled, and weren't, until we flagged down the server, who seemed agitated that we did that period.

Our food comes 30 minutes after ordering probably more but I only timed 30 of it, she asks if we need anything which we did ( Ranch, Ketchup, Salt, Pepper, Napkins. She leaves for 10 minutes and comes back with half the condiment's, no napkins, and still no refills on our drinks.

My friends loaded fries were cold and stuck together, the burgers were lack luster and weren't made how we ordered them at all.

I was ready to leave.

The server's attitude combined with the fact that she seemed "under the influence" was the epitome of unprofessional and sloppy.

The food was NOT worth the money. Burgers were unflavorful and AGAIN sloppily made. The only good thing was the French Fries for the entire experience.

My opinion:

The past 2 times I've been here has been with groups filled with urban, ethnic, and POC's and we've consistently gotten terrible service compared to the older, more Caucasian, guests. If you think we aren't going to tip, you're WRONG, AND IF YOU'RE ESTABLISHMENT IS RACIST, JUST SAY THAT. If it's not, it's giving those vibes HARD.

PRO TIP: Don't waste your money! Go to 10 Pin--its more fun, better atmosphere, better food at a better price and they have multiple bars...

I was on a quick overnight for work in the Wilmington area. The person at the front desk of my hotel recommended Might As Well seeing it was the only place serving food late.

Might as well stay away. When I looked at the menu and photos online it looked like a restaurant that had a bar. The food was all on plates with actual silverware. I didn't realize until I got there that this is a college bar that has what they consider food.

The music was so loud that I could barely talk to the people next to me. While I'm on the music it was loud hip hop which I don't mind but it was full of vulgar language. I'm ok with that but not in a public space. There is a time and a place for F's and B's and a so-called restaurant isn't it.

The "food" was awful. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. After waiting almost an hour it finally came to the bar in a Styrofoam container. Not on a plate, no silverware, not even a plastic fork or knife. I decided to go back to my hotel to get away from the barely 21 year olds getting wasted on cheap beer. As I was leaving and waiting for my Uber I heard someone tell one of the bouncers that some guy just took a picture with his phone up a girls skirt. The bouncer replied oh college kids and totally ignored the crime.

Back at my hotel I opened the Styrofoam container and what I saw shocked me. The bread was hard and stale, the piece of chicken (that was smaller than the bun) looked like it came out of the freezer section of the local grocery store. It was flat, barely breaded, and there were about 10 French fries. After a long day of traveling all I wanted to do was eat and relax before another long day, so against my better judgement I ate the sandwich. I ate the tasteless, lifeless little sandwich. We'll what a mistake that was. I think that I may have food poisoning! I dont remember what my friends got to eat but we have all been sick since eating at Might as Well.

I would recommend never even driving past this place. Definitely never eat there. If you're looking to be surrounded by college students and to get sick this is the place for you. If not stay away. Stay...

This is the WORST service I'VE EVER HAD. Been there a couple times and the service has been hit or miss, but last night was the ABSOLUTE WORST. I had ordered a meatball sub that I waited 30 minutes for. I understood that it was busy, as I'm a server too so I tried to be patient. I went to the bar, and my bartender Dylan told me that he forgot to put my food in and didn't seem to care at all. He didn't apologize and seemed like it wasnt that big of a deal. After that I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my food and at that point I was leaving and asked for it to go. It took another 10 minutes for this. My friend also got sick and was at a table and threw up. My friend and i got paper towels and began to clean up the mess to make it easier on the staff and I tried to make sure she was okay. Not once did anyone offer her water, ask her if she was okay, or even acknowledge her in any way. The barback/busboy came by and threw a rag at her and did not say a word. On top of that, I went to close out her tab because she was unwell and had to wait a little over 10 minutes to do so. Sidney, one of the bartenders stood there with her back turned away from half the bar watching the game, completely ignoring customers. The people next time had been waiting for a long time as well, and in order to get her attention after ten minutes of waiting, watching her stand there, i had to yell “excuse me!” In order for her to do her job. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. If there was any kind of apology or sense of remorse I would have at least been more understanding, especially because that would truly convey how seriously they uphold standards for customer service. After that experience I’ll make sure that when asked about Might As Well, I’ll make sure to say how terrible the service is and how as an establishment they should be disgusted with how their staff handles guests and service. If i could leave 5 negative...
