My wife and I recently finished both rounds of shots and the waiting period for our COVID vaccines and we were so excited to be able to go out again with a little less worry. We travelled to Wilmington and decided to visit downtown for the first time. After some sight-seeing, we got hungry and Shucker’s looked like the place to be. We chose a table out back in the outdoor seating area, which was calmer and has a lovely view of the battleship. The view got even better as the sky darkened and the ship’s outline shone against the water and the city lights. Despite how busy it was, the staff were attentive and worked like the heroes they are to take care of us and every other table around us. They were amazing, and the food was both artful and delicious. Exquisitely enjoyable experience. I can not compliment the staff enough on their patience and even-keeled attitudes, as one of the other patrons in the back area got quite drunk and belligerent with them. She had been drunk when we arrived and kept ordering more libations, as well as drunkenly ordering large amounts of food. When the food came out around 20 minutes later, she loudly demeaned the server carrying her huge order and told him that they didn’t want the food and continued on to complain repeatedly that she needed napkins. The staff were calm, level-headed, and professional with no hesitation. I thought that maybe it would help to appease her if I took her our roll of paper towels, as we were finished with our meal anyway. However, it seemed that it fueled the fire instead, (I am so sorry for making it worse on you guys). She turned on me and immediately began cursing at me and calling me names.... for giving her exactly what she had been screaming that she needed. She threw the roll of paper towels on the ground and proceeded to ramp her tirade to level 15. Her friends were apologizing and thanking me during this entire ~30 second interaction I had with her. Her friends were very kind and seemed so embarrassed. The server who had initially brought her food over came up to our table and offered to personally pay for our meal because of the other patron, which was so kind of him. We thanked him, but told him we would be paying, this was in no way his fault or the restaurant’s, and no way were we letting them lose hard-earned money over this rude woman. Seriously, bravo to you all. You put up with so much abuse and disrespect from patrons like this who take you for granted, and you deserve medals for the levels of patience and outstanding customer service you provided to her and to everyone else in your establishment. I really hope none of the staff involved are disheartened by her behavior. Some people just don’t want to be happy, and there will never be anything anyone else can do to help them. Just remember that for every one of her, there are 99 customers like my wife and I who see you hustling and doing your very best even through this hellacious pandemic to keep us fed and well taken care of. You guys rock, and we will most definitely be back with...
Read moreI had a previous Google review for Shuckin' Shack that was great. I deleted it after today's experience. Our server, Myle, was great. She was the only server on, besides the bartender, around 12:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. There was a hostess and a manager there as well. She was super busy but did a great job maintaining all of her tables. We ordered and the food was great and we got everything in a timely manner. The manager was useless. Standing around while Myle was running her tail off. When we first sat down I heard him condescendingly ask her "What the hell did you spill on the floor?" She replied nothing and got back to doing her job. He haphazardly threw a bar towel on the floor and wiped up, what appeared to be nothing, with his shoe. Whatever, I just figured he was in a mood and trying to look busy. Myle certainly was, but manager Sean was not, and was not helping her at all. He was talking to the bartender who was not very busy either. The really kicker was when I asked Myle for a wet nap because my daughter got crab legs. She looked, presumably, where they're supposed to be, and found none. She asked manager Sean if he, or the bartender, could get some from the back. He loudly said no and watched her walk away and then laughed with the bartender. There was more chit chat with a kitchen employee, laughing as well. Myle was working so hard and was so busy and the way he treated her was absolutely disgusting. Not to mention that she is a young girl and he is well into his 40's. He intimidated her and completely disrespected her. We have eaten here so many times and we really enjoy the food. I will NEVER be back! If I had ever seen an older male manager talk to my daughter the way he talked to Myle, my daughter would have walked out the door right then and there and Sean and I would have had a nice chat. I really hope the higher ups see this and do something about it. Feel free to contact me and I can get into more detail. My daughter and I were sitting right by the wait station so I saw and heard everything. Myle, please reach out if you need help getting out of that toxic situation. I can only imagine how this young girl felt today. Shame on you Sean, there is no excuse for your behavior. I would hate to see how you are when customers are...
Read moreMy experience with Shuck'N Shack was a good one. I have eaten here before but it was hot wings carryout with were also very good a meaty.
These pics was a date night. We ordered lots of food. We started off with water and a few drinks. For something new and challenging we each had and oyster shot. I ordered the pleasure island shot which tast like a spicy strong bloody marry with a raw oyster.
My partner ordered the dawn patrol which was not peppery and spiced buy it was still a strong shot with a raw oyster. This shot was a little sweeter than the first. Also my partner ordered the Pineapple Jalapeño Mule, Which was good but after my oyster shooter I didn't taste alot of the jalepeno . It was good cold drink but I still prefer a regular Moscow mule.
As an appetizers we couldn't decide we wanted everything. We almost ordered the seafood trio, kept it simple and ordered the crab balls instead. The were yummy pre meal treats. They are Six bite-size balls of crab meat and deliciousness, accompanied by our signature sauce.
Next was the main course. We were both heavy seafood eaters and took on the Saul T Steam Pot: Dozen Oysters, Dozen Clams, 1 lb Snow Crab legs, 1/2 lb Shrimp, and 2 Pieces of Corn Served on a Bucket with 2 Sides of Slaw. This was a perfect size for us two. It's supposed to be a family type bucket but it only fed upls with no left overs. The side of slaw that cam with it was delicious but it's only a serving that can be eaten in one or to bites. Half ear of corn that came with it was perfectly cooked and was juicey and sweet!
The bucket of seafood we ordered was cooked perfectly on that note the shrimp was cooked a minute or two too long but it was still large and tasty. Crab pulled apart well and easy to eat with minor skill to getting to the meat. Class were definitely cooked well done and falling out the shell. Which was fine and easy to eat.
My overall experience was great about 4.8 out 5. I would diffenately eat here again and try the rest of...
