This was the second time that I have been to chills. I love sitting outside when it's not too hot and the flies are not carrying your food away. Unfortunately this year the river was dried up and the lakes were dried up pretty much because they need rain out there in that part of Texas. However the atmosphere the nature and being able to be under trees and seeing the Guadalupe is a very soothing and enjoyable place to have a light meal. I do not like to complain when it's not necessarily something that I'm blaming the server or if the entire restaurant requires them to do this, however, I was ready to pay for the bill for me and my friend's mother so I pulled out my credit card and handed it to our waiter. But instead of kind of walking to a cash register or whatnot he finished the transaction right there in front of us . There's nothing wrong with that except I noticed when I got the receipt that the 20% tip option was circled already so as if I felt like that was awkward and I would have tipped him the regular 15% and by having a 20% already circled for himself, I did not think that his service was worth 20%. Also with him finishing out the transaction at the table didn't give me a chance to let my guest know that he is already tipped Please don't give him anymore money. I never do not tip. But this tipping and the expectation that they have for themselves that make customers feel as if they owe it to them as part of their meal is off putting to say the least. So not only did I sign and pay for the lunch plus a 20% tip, but my guest also gave him cash and I wasn't able to inform her that the tip was already circled by, I don't know who, maybe he did it. I'm from the old school and tips are for Wait staff to do something a little bit extra for you. It just really kind of irritates me that they feel entitled to write down how much tip and then if you don't give them what is circled you almost feel like a cheapskate. I'm not blaming the waiter and I'm not blaming the restaurant but it may be something that anybody else who goes to the restaurant check the tip scale before signing your credit card slip. If it is circled and you don't feel like that is something they deserve, maybe call manager quietly or advertly whatever and however you handle things. He wasn't bad but then again he wasn't anything special. The food was great I had a great time but then he got an extra tip and so that's all I'm saying The rest of it I...
Read moreWe had a party of 6 and we were seated on the patio. Initially, things were going well. After placing our order I was reading the dessert menu and noticed that they had a chocolate chunk cookie. The description says that it takes a little time because they're prepared fresh, so place your order early. When the server brought our drinks i placed the order for the cookie.
While she was clearing the plates i asked about the cookie. She said that she would check on it.
When she returned with the check, which INCLUDED AN 18% GRATUITY, she said it's not ready yet because their oven is "running slow". She said it would only be about 15 minutes.
45 MINUTES AFTER PAYING THE CHECK some semi-management looking guy comes to the table and apologized. He assured us that the cookie was only about 15 minutes away. He said our cookies would be free because of the wait as he was walking away, leaving us all confused because we had already paid for it.
Needless to say, I was angry. It was hot, our drinks were empty and no longer being refilled.
Finally AN HOUR AND A HALF AFTER PAYING THE CHECK the man came to the table and said something like "this is the best cookie in the world!" He promptly dropped the box on the table and ran away.
I thought maybe there was more than one because he said or cookies (plural) were on the house after we had already paid.
When i opened the box and saw this $4 cookie, I literally had the urge to throw the box at the back of his head.
This is the cookie that we my party of 6 paid $4 and had to sit on the hot patio for an hour and a half with no drink refills because we had already paid.
Don't go. The service was terrible. It was bad enough to run my afternoon....
Read moreLet me start off by saying the ambience was nice on the inside, and the outside had very nice views. Our waitress was friendly, but very very slow when it came to actually waiting on our table. There was no wait time, we did call ahead to let them know we were coming because we were a party of 7 plus a baby and toddler. We received our drinks quickly and the appetizer, we ordered 2 of the chips and queso appetizer, but after that we did not see our waitress or food for a good 30 or more minutes. The food was not any better. We ordered the baby mashed potatoes and one of our meals had mashed potatoes as a side and both were ice cold! We sent them back all they did was heated them up in the microwave. The mahi tacos were way over cooked and so dry! The and Étouffée crawfish was not good at all. The hamburger was not bad, but nothing to brag about. The turkey club was the only thing that was good. The prices for what you get is way too expensive! Online it said 10-20 but that is not true at all 20-30 is a better fit. We split our check and found out when we paid that gratuity was added to a table 6 people and over. So for a split check one group of us paid $86+ and the other was 169+. The waitress got a 45 dollar gratuity tip off of no service, and I’m not joking when I say she came to our table at max 4 time to check on us and we were there for about 1.5 hours. Way overpriced for over cooked mid food!! Save your money and eat...
