I finally tried Jollibee. I’ve seen it in my travels and for years always walked past it going into Seafood City. My Filipino friends always talk about this place, and the reviewers seem to love it as well. I love chicken but I am definitely a thigh and leg man, the dark meat. I was wondering if I could get only dark meat if I ordered a bucket but taking a look at their website it seems they only have dark meat which is a plus in my opinion. Ordered a 6 piece bucket and the chicken was good and juicy. The first piece I tried a couple bites by itself, but they give you some gravy to dip your chicken in and it is good, similar to KFC’s. So the chicken is good but not the best or even great but I will work it into my rotation when I get a hankering for some chicken. Then there was the spaghetti. I know from reading the reviews that the spaghetti is different from what we are used to in the US so I had to give it a try. It is different but I liked it. It is slightly sweet and less acidic. They don’t skimp on the sauce you have enough to cover all your noodles. Will have the spaghetti again. Finally the peach mango pie I would recommend. Some things that disappointed me was there was no spicy chicken. I like Popeyes spicy chicken and wanted a direct comparison but they seem to be out. The first time I came I ordered spicy but was told they were out so I left. This time I ordered spicy and they were out but it seems to be something to do with the pandemic. I can’t wait to try the spicy chicken. The gravy doesn’t travel well. I saw the gravy placed in a small bag and tied up. Sure enough when I got home the gravy had spilled but was contained in the bag. It seems to me that if the lid doesn’t stay on your need better packaging. I would recommend people who haven’t had Filipino food to try Jollibee. Have the chicken and then try one of the other items spaghetti, palabok, burger steak, etc. Even if you don’t like the other items you will like the chicken. I will definitely be back to try the palabok, burger steak,...
Read moreSo I've never been to a Jollibee's restaurant before in my whole entire life so I decided that I better head on over there to get one of their chicken sandwiches. When I arrived I noticed that this location does not have a drive through so I parked the car in the lot immediately adjacent to the building and went inside to grab some carry out lunch. It is inside a mall type place that I didn't really check out that much but it definitely has several places to grab some food. The restaurant was clean and open, and when I arrived there was only 1 person in line. Ordering was fast, and I moved to the right to wait for my food. Are about 2 minutes, I noticed the line to order grew to 11 people. Dang! My device buzzed so I grabbed my food and headed home. The sandwich was good. Definitely not the best. Just a tiny bit dry. I think next time I will certainly get the Deluxe because it has more toppings. Basically this was just a bun with a fried chicken breast on it as well as Mayo. I think I may have accidentally gotten extra Mayo without ordering it. Mine contained a lot. But overall it was pretty decent. I'll definitely go back and get the chicken Deluxe sandwich, add extra pickle. Definitely needs some pickle on that. I hope you enjoy your sandwich. And if you fancy it, they serve spaghetti as...
Read more(Native Filipinos may find this review incorrect or even humorous - this was my first time trying Filipino food.) I have tried food from many, many countries. I realize that a "chain restaurant" may not represent what the average local meal may be but....just as McDonald's may not be what everyone eats, it is a variation of what is common in the US. I assume the same of Jollibee..
I ordered the chicken and spaghetti combo and was very pleased. It is fried chicken with a crispy breading; very tasty. The spaghetti is what surprised me most. The sauce is sweet and very, very tasty. (I wondered if there wasn't some fruit included as part of the recipe for the sauce.) Now, this combo was priced about equal to a quarter pounder meal from McDonald's and yet was more filling (you get a good size helping of spaghetti.)
There was a cup with a brown gravy (or sauce) that came with the meal. I was not certain what to do with it. I ate a spoonful thinking it was possibly a soup but it was too thick and rich for soup. I assume you add it to the rice or (as I did), dip the chicken into it.
Good tasting food at a reasonable price - I wish there were more of...
