This was a truly outrageous experience! I went to run some errands with my 6yr. old son one day and stopped at the Waffle House to have a late morning breakfast. I am a 51 years old, divorced mother with chronic pain and horrible insomnia, but none-the-less, try to maintain a positive, light, fun disposition, mostly for the sake of my son. I'm usually pretty tired as I sometimes don't sleep at all at night and often only a few hours. I almost never get over 4 or 5 hours of sleep at night and my son promptly wakes me up if I start to doze off during the day because he has anxiety and doesn't like to feel "alone”. So, I am in a constantly sleep deprived state, bordering on torture it sometimes seems, especially when any one or several of my chronic pain causing diseases are acting up. But all who know me, know there is no one who loves their child more than I. I don't drink, do non-prescribed drugs, date or go out unless it's with my son. So I was quite surprised when several police officers walked up to me while I was having brunch with my son. It seems one of the employees called the police and reported that I was "falling asleep" multiple times while at the table with my son. What?! First, I wasn't. I was talking to him pleasantly and while I listened to him I shut my eyes a couple of times for no more than a few seconds here or there. I was doing what my constantly overworked mother used to call "resting her eyes” when she got into her late 40s and early 50s. I got rest where I could even if it wasn't sleep. My son knew I was listening to him as I "uh-hmm”ed here and there. I'm absolutely sure I didn't fall asleep for 1second and my eyes were probably only closed for several seconds a few times. I was so shocked at the reason for the police crashing my private lunch date that I was confused. I stated that I wasn't falling asleep, but I was tired as I often was. I mentioned that I suffered from insomnia and had chronic pain that kept me up at night. I asked if there was a law against an old mother being tired. I was then asked if I was doing drugs, if I took prescription drugs, etc. The questioning was as if I was being interrogated. I finally began getting bothered and asked if there was a problem or if I could get on with my day out with my son. They were hesitant to leave me alone and said my answers were suspicious and raised "red flags". I know there are a lot of druggies in town but I'm not one of them! As the police finally walked out the door, I saw an older employees rush after the police and stop them outside and talk to them for several minutes. I asked my waitress 'what the heck?' and she very defensively said that it wasn't that lady who called them, she was sort of 'like' their manager and if anything happened there, she had to know about it so she was just seeing what was going on. Well, yes, I can't imagine that the police would come into an establishment and harass a customer without sharing a word with the manager or senior employee.....I was quite sure they hadn't and clearly would have talked to someone who worked there first to get the scoop if nothing else. Why wouldn't she talk to them in the restaurant instead of waiting for them to leave until chasing them down in the parking lot? My waitress kept nervously saying it was probably a customer, even though there were no customers in there from earlier on. When the older employee walked back in after a lengthy discussion with the police, I asked her if she had called them. She snarled at me, "Who me?! No!" That was it! Yes, she did!! She would not haven't answered like that if she hadn't! I was a Psychology Major in College and was always good at smelling a rat, so I had no doubt. Even my 6 year old son said she called the police when he saw her run outside after them and I hadn't said a word about it to him. He has my instincts, but it didn't take a 6 yr old 2 minutes to figure it out. When I asked my waitress if she saw me asleep, instead of saying ”no”, she said, ”I was so busy, I didn't see". Wouldn't...
Read moreOn weekends pretty much every restaurant in town is busy for breakfast so wife and decided that maybe we could get into Waffle house pretty quick on Pleasant Valley Rd, well they were at capacity to so decided to wait but only had to wait about 10 minutes. There were a total of 7 employees working the place and seemed to be in a state of organized chaos because the employees were cooking, cleaning off tables, serving and calling out orders as fast as they could and they were rocking it. Wife ordered the Blueberry waffle and I ordered the Steak and Bacon melt platter. Wife got her order 1st then when she was half way through I received my order, other than that small issue with timing on the arrival of our order the food was excellent hot and fresh and prices were very good. We felt like we not only got a good breakfast but also a show because when you sit at the bar you get to watch the employees turn utter chaos into a very tasty breakfast before your eyes. I will definitely be going back to try the Steak melt bowl next time. All in all a very pleasing dining experience and the employees really rocked it, they might need to be a little more attentive when it comes to refills but like I said they do very good under that state of chaos. Highly recommend to give them a try and tip your waitress well, they...
Read moreI've always had great experiences here. Staff is very nice and food is always ready quick.
The last two times however, one employee, no name tag, blonde hair, she wears a scarf on her head has been awful. First time, she was very rude to the people in front of me. There were 2 tables in the restaurant. She was very short, and very rude and impatient.
Today, I placed a to go order and was told 10 minutes. I arrived in 15 minutes. Not a single person in the restaurant when I arrived. The girl got up from sitting at a booth and then started making my food. The cashier didn't have the total ready. They proceeded to talk about the monetary amount of sales they had done for the day and made fun of a customer they had earlier. Worst part was, when the girl was cooking my food, she grabbed the trash can with her gloved hands and then touched my food. She wasn't wearing the mask around her neck...
