FRIENDS BETHLEHEM GRILL — Restaurant in Winder

Very dissatisfied with this location. First clue was that was pretty empty for a sports place on a football game day. Inside was only 2 tables with people including ours, 2 tables outside and 1 person at the bar. They had 4 waitress and a bartender. 1- order a unsweetened tea and requested some splenda. 2.- we place our order and appetizer. The appetizer (mozzarella sticks) those were ok but the outside was not crispy. 3- The meal comes out really fast considering that we all order chicken. Daughter order the chicken wrap with fries - should be call lettuces with sprinkle chicken . To make it simple the fries was the best thing on her plate. I order the chicken phylli sandwich with fries. Again the best thing on the plate was the fries. The bread was old and was not heater or toasted. Was loaded with onions a few pieces of chicken and cheese. I only eat a some of the little cubes of chicken and the fries. Husband order the chicken and waffles. Were should I start, for starters should be call syrup pool with mashed potatoes, half waffle and 3 chicken tenders. The Chicken tenders looks like they have been cook like 3 to 4 times, the waffle was a fluffy round eggo cut in half lightly heated and placed in a mountain of mashed potatoes. This mountain of potatoes was uneatable. It was frozen cold and on a pool of syrup. No one wants to eat mashed potatoes with syrup. Normally this plate is served with the syrup on the side on a little saucer so you can dip the chicken or waffle on it. Last the service was a horrible. Food gets delivered and it took like 6 to 7 minutes to get forks and knives. Then our waitress disappears for the entire meal. I needed more to drink and my daughter had to get up and went to the bar to get a refill. Then waitress shows up and we asked for drinks to go and the bill. She brings what we have asked for and goes away after sometime waiting for her to come back, again my daughter gets up, goes to the bar to pay. The bartender takes the bill and the credit card and does to the kitchen with it . Them the waitress comes back with the papers to signed and credit card. We signed the bill and left. This review is a split decision hence my 3 star rating. Let me start off by saying we Love the location downtown Winder. This was our first visit at the new location and if not for the bartender it would have received 2 star. So first the service. Our waiter was young but that’s no excuse for his performance. Let me include this: the place was NOT crowded. 3 booths were taken and o my one person sitting at the bar. It was 9:30 pm. So our waiter takes our drink order and I ask if they have Guinness. He hands me a hand written note with drink choices. Really? So I see they do have it, we all order drinks. My 2 kids drinks come fairly quick but ours take at least 10 minutes. No biggie at this point. Our app comes and I order another Guinness. After 5 minutes or so my wife tells me it’s been sitting in the bar. 5 minutes later she goes and gets it. The waiter comes to take our food order and when I ask him about a certain food he had colorful language to describe it. My 7 yo daughter says “It’s okay Daddy, I won’t repeat it” so we order and 40 minutes later our food comes but the simplest food, Mac and cheese for our 5 year old doesn’t come. We sit waiting for 10 more minutes before we eat as we didn’t want to eat in front of her. During this time I have to go to the bar for another drink as he never checks on us. Initially tried this spot through Uber eats, the food selections were plentious and made our mouth water. Delivery was fine and food was prepared well and delicious!! Ordered again the following week and got the wrong order. We talked to the GM, Misty. She apologized for the inconvenience. She explained the driver picked up the wrong order and unfortunately the restaurant did not have delivery service...only if we contacted Uber eats to deliver again.. That wasn't an option for us. Misty offered to remake the.order and I agreed to pick up on my way home the next day. When I arrived, Misty gave me a warm greeting and reviewed the.order again...I asked for extra fries and wings. Misty accommodated with a big smile. She went to the kitchen and about 30 to 35 minutes came to where I was sitting with two huge bags of food. The Cobb salad was huge and ingredients layered with.perfection. the 40 wings I ordered were separated by flavor in its own container and piping hot. Two order of fries and a beautiful array of celery and dipping sauces arranged in another container arranged beautifully. Misty made up for the inconvenience with a smile and customer service excellence that will rival a 5 star resturant any day. The food was delicious, as expected.
