Heads up if you expect ketchup and fast drive thru.
I visited the Summit Point store off University several times last Summer and early Fall. About 4 or 5. It was conveniently located on the route I was taking and I really like the whoppers. On the first visit I asked for ketchup at the drive thru. Was told they were out. I was very disappointed but tried to understand those things happen. On the second visit I was told again that they were out of ketchup. I thought it was very strange to be out of ketchup twice within a week. On the third visit about two weeks later, I forgot about the ketchup thing but it all came back to me when again, I was told they were out. I ordered a large combo which includes a large order of fries. With NO ketchup. Seriously? You have no ketchup??
A couple weeks later I decided to give them just one more try. I pulled in the drive thru. It was very busy and line was long. About 7 or 8 cars. I was tired and decided to go ahead and deal with the wait. I noticed that the backup was not getting any better because each vehicle would take about 4 to 5 minutes (no exageration) to move up one spot. As I got closer to the speaker I realized why they were backed up. When the car pulled up, BK employee would immediately say, " Welcome to Burger King. We will be right with you." Then after about 4 minutes, they would say, "OK. Go ahead with your order." So when I got to the speaker I was greeted with 'We will be right with you'. After a few minutes she said for me to go ahead with my order if I was ready. Although I was tired and hungry, I told her in a clear and calm voice, "It is absolutely ludicrous for the line to be moving so slowly for so long. I am reporting this to corporate." Then I drove off. Anyone with a brain should be able to understand that if you take the order as soon as possible, the food will be ready QUICKER therefore speeding up the line.
It would be extremely careless and irresponsible for a manager at a fast food burger joint to run out of ketchup several times within a few weeks. Couple this with the complete lack of understanding of how to run a drive thru, it makes you wonder. Do the employees at this location have an ax to grind with the owners? Are they deliberately driving customers away so they can relax and still collect hourly wages? What else would explain it?? If I could, I would give them zero stars instead of 1.
By the way, after I swore I would never ever go the Winston-Salem Summit location, a week later I went to the BK on main street Kernersville. It was fantastic! Drive thru wait was about 4 minutes, hot burger, hot fries, and lots and lots of ketchup, friendly smile from BK employee. Different management team than...
Read moreI live just down the street from this Burger King on University Parkway, and Iâve seen firsthand how challenging the post-pandemic years have been for restaurantsâparticularly when it comes to hiring, training, and retaining staff. This location has faced its share of those struggles, yet I want to take a moment to commend the current manager. She has been here for several months now, and on more than one occasion Iâve seen her holding down the store nearly singlehandedly, even in the middle of the night, at what is essentially a 24/7 franchise. Her effort and commitment deserve real recognition.
As for quality, Burger King continues to deliver what has always set it apart: that unmistakable chargrilled flavor. When stacked against competitors like McDonaldâs or Wendyâs, the flame-grilled taste really is in a league of its own. I also appreciate Burger Kingâs unapologetic commitment to what most of us can agree onâthat bacon simply belongs on a burger.
That said, the staffing shortages have inevitably impacted the overall customer experience. To be clear, this is not a reflection on the current management team, who are working hard under difficult circumstances. The responsibility, in my view, lies at the district and corporate level. Burger King as a brand has the resources to invest in higher wages, stronger benefits, better training programs, and improved hiring practices. Ultimately, the companyâs leadership creates the culture and conditions that determine whether people want to work here.
If those issues are addressed, my ratings would rise significantly, because this location has strong management and the potential to thrive. Until then, I see the gaps as less a local problem and more a corporate...
Read moreThe poor young man on the register was trying to be professional. He was more professional than I have witnessed at any fast food place other than Chic fila in a long time. However there were only 4 people running the entire place and that's including the manager. The manager was working his behind off trying to keep everyone happy but there was only so much even he could do. The drive thru was 5 cars deep and there were at least 5 people behind us. The drink machine on the floor wasn't working properly. Put it this way they really only had sprite , tea and I think fruit punch. So I got a refund on one drink. I waited forever then got the food and cheese was left off of two burgers. So they take them back and ended up getting a refund. Two people walked out while I was waiting for my people to come out. The Whopper I got would have been good had the bun not been stale. I ate it anyway because I was starving. I ate an entire Whopper while waiting for them to get a refund. That's how long it took ! They have to be hiring, they need help bad ! The manager said it's the first of the month his people call out on the first. He can't fire them because he doesn't have enough staff as...
