Red Crab Juicy Seafood — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

I’ve recently started to love this place especially now that I live on this side of town. However, now unfortunately I will not be returning. I ordered my son and I something to eat last night. I’m 9 months pregnant and had a really strong craving for crab legs and shrimp and my son has been begging for seafood. I placed a order over the phone. I pick up my order I see it has everything inside. She took the order right but the cooks obviously didn’t read what I wanted. I do not eat pork. Not noticing till I got home we have two different kind of sausage after I’m eating a few of the shrimp and a few bits of corn I noticed my food just didn’t smell right. I go look at my son sausage to see his is cut long way mine was chopped up in small circles. I call to ask the difference in the sausage only to find out it’s pork in mine and turkey sausage in my sons. Again I do not eat pork and I had already ate some shrimp and corn. On top of me saying no spice…my food had some spice to it. I couldn’t eat the food and just from the little bit of shrimp and corn I had.. since It was mixed with the pork I’ve had the worst headache and just been sick. Speaking with the manager she of course try to read me the policy as if I knew the difference between their sausage even though I checked my bag before leaving. She decides to only say we will discount your next order. As sick as I am today there will be no next order. People should really pay attention to the customers request instead of just throwing the d* food together to get the order out the door. The lady who took the order was nice and was the one who told me about the option to sub for turkey which made me even more excited cause not many places have that option. First time to the Red Crab in Winston.. VERY BAD first impression!! Will be hard to shake! The food was not good at all.. oysters tasted frozen. The manager, I think his name is Eric, said they are not frozen but I know what frozen seafood tastes like.. not sure I believe him.. All the fries and the fish tasted like it had been cooked in the same grease. A couple pieces of fish had a weird texture..rubbery.. I believe they fried the fish too long. They forgot 2 drinks. Forgot napkins. Forgot straws. I came with 5 kiddos. These kiddos really like fish and seafood. I wanted to treat them to a nice seafood meal and quite frankly the meal was ruined! Also it was ruined by the wait staff. We had 2 different waitresses. They never introduced themselves. One asked me “Are these all your kids” I told her they’re my little friends. She goes “oh ok” in a rude tone and gave me a weird look. One of the kids asked her “don’t you have little friends too” she looked at the child rudely and also rudely looked at me and she said “I hang out with people my own age”. I overheard waitresses discussing me, Saying negative things. One of the kids wanted to sit on my lap, I tickled her. She loudly screamed (loud but not too loud) a waiter came over and told me to “act my age” and said “stop tickling them” in a rude tone. As he was walking away he said I was disturbing other guests. We weren’t disturbing anyone!! A lady at a booth nearby told me she thinks I’m lovely to hang out with the kids. First time eating here. We arrived not long after they opened at noon. We both ordered the shrimp basket w/fries plus a couple of sides of corn and coleslaw. Overall the food was good. The shrimp and fries were cooked perfectly and came out good and hot. I had ordered Cajun fries with mine but really couldn't tell much difference between them and the regular fries. The corn was served with garlic butter inside of a large plastic bag. Again hot and cooked perfectly. Now if you are a coleslaw connoisseur skip ordering it here. It had way too much mayo and a metallic taste. We also ordered an appetizer of hush puppies after we received our food and they came out before our food was gone. Here again if you are a hush puppie fan I'd skip these as they are very close to the frozen ones you can get at any grocery store. Last but not least, the dining area was done in a in a dock type of theme with walls that are apparently for writing on as there were all kinds of names, pictures etc. scribed on them. Overall the dining area could use a bit of a cleaning as the windows and window ledges were quite dirty. I gave this place a 4 star rating simply because they did great on the seafood end of it. As for the dining room and the appetizers (minus the corn which was great) it fell pretty short in those areas. My advice...call ahead for takeout and stick to ordering what they do best and make your own...
