I cannot say enough good things about this cute little Italian, bakery, and deli! I ordered some pastries to bring to my Italian father who lives out of town. I ordered via DoorDash and scheduled a pick up towards the end of the day. When I got there, I was tickled to see so many grocery items and candies that were reminiscent of my childhood. I spotted a fantastic looking mortadella in the deli case and commented on how I have not had that since I was a young girl the owner sliced some homemade focaccia, which, by the way was like a pillow. It was so soft and delicious drizzled some pistachio pesto on it and topped it with a piece of mortadella and gave it to my daughter and I to try. That focaccia was the best I have ever had! We instantly purchased some as well as some of the pistachio pesto and a pound of the mortadella to add to my pastry order. Let me tell you that that focaccia was still just as fresh and soft the next day That is the testament to some quality ingredients! The place is cute, very quaint and cozy with a hometown, kind of a feel where everybody would know each other. Let me tell you how delightful the owners were first they seem to genuinely happy to see everybody that stepped into the store. They were pleased to make small talk and when I arrived, the gentleman owner told me that it would just be a few moments because his wife was making some of the lobster tails fresh for me. I could not believe it! They were so kind and so gracious and had great customer service by everyone there. And I have to add as well that the pastries were fantastic! I will most definitely make this place a...
Read moreQuestion. What at a minimum should be on a pizza, if it is called a pizza? That is the dilemma this cafe faces. Should it have sauce? Cheese? Toppings. Well, it has two of those and the most obvious is sadly lacking. That of sauce!
I was very disappointed with what was generously called pizza, but instead was a round doughy object with only cheese and pepperoni. I seriously could not tell from the pizza displayed in the case that it didn't have any sauce, nor would I have launched a deep inspection because I just assume, its pizza - its got sauce!
And given the cost, it was therefore WAY overpriced. It was a 9 inch pizza, with no sauce (did I mention that prevously) and very thick and doughy. To compare it to deep dish or Detroit style is inaccurate.
And - even in Italy, and in Naples, the home of pizza, they have sauce on their pizzas. Because it is called a pizza!
So I think the solution is, change the name of whatever they serve and don't call it pizza. Call it a Cheese and Pepperoni Italian Bread. Whatever. But not pizza.
I think their sandwiches are fine, but if you are looking for pizza, head to Blaze - at least they have sauce! (if that happens to be...
Read moreI stopped by during my lunch break on a Saturday. They were pretty slammed, so I knew I'd have to wait. No problem. I waited over an hour for a stromboli and a large cannoli. They also didn't have AC. I was a lil annoyed but they were really busy and a new spot, so I understood. When I asked them about the order, they had thought they'd already given me half of it for some reason. I told them I had received none of it, and I asked if I could cancel my order, but she went behind the counter, grabbed the stromboli and 2 small canolis, placed it in a box and handed it to me. I literally do not understand how this happened. The sandwich was room temp and had chocolate over it from the canolis they put inside the same box. Either that, or they had chocolate on their hands while handling it. She gave me 2 canolis to 'make up' for waiting, but I had ordered a completely different flavored canoli, and it was a large one to begin with. She gave me 2 small ones. It was essentially the same thing as the large one I had ordered, but different flavor. The sad part is, the food was pretty good, and it's in a great area down the street from my job, but I genuinely have no interest in...
