My wife and I have been here twice in the last week. This is our story: We had the mussels both times. Definitely recommend those. Creamy broth with a little heat, but not too thick. Bread that comes with it is fantastic. We also tried the lobster crustini. Same bread as the mussels. Even so, only an average appetizer. Probably won't get it again. She had the shrimp and grits and liked it. No faults there. I had the margherita pizza. It was okay.. Average restaurant pizza. Wouldn't get it again. She had the braised short ribs with potato gnocchi. Delicious, but obviously very heavy. She opted to add a side of grits and preferred those to the gnocchi, but I liked the gnocchi. Short ribs were perfectly cooked. I had the salmon dish, but swapped the salmon for trout because I'm a trout guy. So it ended up being trout with rissotto and kale. The trout came with some sort of creamy crawfish sauce. Sauce was okay.. probably would have been better with the mussel sauce. Trout was good with the rissotto, but a little bland by itself. We had the blueberry bread pudding for dessert. It was phenomenal. Maybe the best bread pudding I've ever had. I'm a blueberry guy, and it wasn't too sweet. Definitely ask for two scoops of ice cream. Single bite the best thing we ate was the short ribs. Oh, and if you're a whiskey person they have a stout whiskey selection.

Parking is limited unless you want to use the mandatory valet. If you continue through the parking lot to the back street, there is street side parking for free and a short walk to the restaurant. We walked in and was immediately seated. Initially they tried to sit us in the center, which was connected to a four top when there was plenty of seating available throughout the rest of the establishment. We asked to move and the hostess immediately sat us across the way at a more private seating. Sat down and was met by our waitress and she proceeded to give us the run down on the menu. Sh has a lot of favorites lol. We ended up trying the egg rolls which she highly recommended and we were not disappointed. They were very good and the sauce mixture was very good together. My girlfriend ordered the London broil which arrived just warm and I ordered the chicken fried chicken which arrived very hot. I can only assume the cook didn’t time the two different cook times and let the steak sit while waiting for the chicken to cook. Both meals were very good even with the cooler temperature on the steak. Overall our experience was very good and if we are in town again we will probably stop by and enjoy another meal here.

We had a really great experience here. This was the first time visiting and we were a little nervous because it was a Friday night and seemed very busy. It was very busy, however the staff was on POINT! They knew how to handle the flow of people and the wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The food was very good, fresh and chef designed. My daughter is an aspiring chef and she NEVER eats cole slaw. Well she decided to try the ribs which came with cole slaw, she loved it. When the server came back she said “from one chef to another, please tell whoever made this it was delicious”. The server not only relayed the message but she told her manager who walked out with the chef to greet my daughter and made her feel so special! He then thanked all of us and said he was having some dessert on the house sent to our table! Truly above and and beyond service and hospitality. The dessert was beyond delicious, they brought the brownie and ice cream as well as the blueberry bread pudding! Excellent end to a great dinner and experience. Will definitely be back and bring friends and family!

Salt Factory Pub gets my 150th review! Top 2 favorite Woodstock destinations. The best thing about Salt Factory is it is CONSISTENTLY excellent. You can tell by the amount of people who come here that this place is the place to be. Fully stocked bar with an outstanding bourbon selection. They have the nice round ice if you like it that way. I had the Colonel E H Taylor which is my current favorite. My wife had a Margarita Inc. Looked amazing, but it was incredibly sweet. Make sure you get salt to cut the sweetness. For appetizers we got the Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice and the Thai beef lettuce wraps. The salmon just looked the part for the price you pay and Ohhh is it worth it! So many textures! Perfect bites. The lettuce wraps were great as well but I probably would have gotten a double order of the salmon crispy rice. Was way too distracted by those! I continued my Asian flavors with the Hong Kong Style Salmon. I asked for medium rare salmon and it was executed perfectly. The miso broth with the sticky rice reminded me more of mashed potatoes. Again, incredible textures that kept me entertained. My wife enjoyed her dish, the Blood Orange Glazed salmon which actually had mashed potatoes. The salmon was a bit over cooked but the flavors were there. Finally we rounded out our meal with my wife's absolute favorite Crème Brûlée, and the have the BEST Crème Brûlée!! I love to see how happy she gets when this hits the table every time. Definitely order this if you have room for dessert!! Salt Factory is a locals' hot spot. Tons of opportunities for parties of 6 or more if you want to make it an event. Date nights, birthday celebrations, neighborhood get togethers. You can't beat this place and it will always be close to the top for me...

I have visited Salt numerous times and consistently had positive experiences; however, my recent visit on May 7, 2025, was disappointing. Our server, Jordan, was perhaps the rudest waitress I have ever encountered. We were a group of six, celebrating an early Mother’s Day and a birthday during lunch. Initially, she brought us water but quickly left without taking our drink orders. I had to flag her down to request drinks, which included two Cokes and a beer. At one point, a member of our group opted to order directly from the bar due to her apparent disinterest, even during a slow lunch shift.

When it was time to place our meal orders, we had a disabled individual in our group who requested her steak to be sliced. Jordan responded, “I won’t slice it.” When we asked if she could check with the kitchen about slicing it before serving, she replied, “I’ll ask, but I’m not sure they will, and I assure you I won’t.” Her attitude was dismissive, abrasive, and rude.

When the check arrived, it became clear why she behaved that way; gratuity was already included, which may have led her to believe she didn’t need to provide good service to earn a tip. As a business owner myself, I would be appalled if any of my employees treated a guest in such a manner.

We did address the issue with the manager, who sincerely apologized for Jordan’s behavior and expressed embarrassment over her actions. She assured us that she would speak to the server, and I hope she follows through. Based on numerous reviews regarding customer service, it seems that additional training may be beneficial...

Terrible experience at Freight Kitchen & Tap (same day, read my review for them) but GREAT experience at SALT, as always. We have dined with Salt for many years (at their Alpharetta, Woodstock and Roswell locations) and never had anything but the best to say about their food, service, and atmosphere. Very comfortable and upscale atmosphere. At SALT, the service is near impeccable with great attention to detail, training and professionalism and the food is simply high quality and delicious including classic southern favorites with an upscale twist and great offerings from garden, coupe, land and sea.

We should have gone straight to SALT on Easter but we tried going to Freight Kitchen & Tap first and got turned away (due to Freight's own Host/Hostess miscommunication) with 3 of us and an 18 month old baby. Freight Kitchen & Tap told us over the phone on the Thursday prior (we tried to get reservation) that they would take walk-ins at 10:30am for Easter Sunday brunch but then turned us away at the door saying they weren't taking walk-ins till 12:00pm, with nothing more than canned apologies, lack of empathy/compassion and I think less than 25-30 people in the restaurant. Luckily SALT was about to open and took us right in without reservations. We had a great meal and service as ALWAYS no lie.

My advise to anyone wanting to dine at Freight Kitchen & Tap... skip the big CABOOSES at Freight K&T and HEAD TO SALT for salt of the earth service!! Way better treatment, great food, better management, better training, better staff and...
