Potbelly — Restaurant in Worth Township

If I can give zero stars, I would. I am very disappointed, upset, and at the same time sad. Sad because it’s my local potbellies that I’ve been coming to for years. Dear Potbelly’s Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the treatment my family and I received. One of your employees, named TAYLOR unfairly and disrespectfully kicked me and my Parents out the restaurant which their seniors by the way without asking for any clarification or understanding of the situation. It was on Monday of last week we walked in to get some subs. A man starts screaming at my dad, asking him why he is parking in the handicap spot. My dad is confused I’m confuse. I go up to him and ask him excuse me is there a problem? He’s like you know you’re not supposed to be parking there. You seem to be walking fine. They seem to be waking fine. I’m like what! What is it to you mind your business. You don’t know my parents medical record and I’m not about to explain our situation to you why my dad is parking in the handicap spot. He seemed very rude. I told him can you please stop talking to my dad like that he’s a senior by the way. He didn’t care he kept going at it with my dad. So then I ask him so if a white couple parks there, would you have acknowledged them like that? He’s like don’t go there and starts screaming add us like don’t park there. He seemed very racist like he was talking at us with a lot of hate. So then we stop arguing with him and we turn around trying to go and order some subs and Taylor walks up to us and she’s like you guys need to go I’m like are you serious right now? She’s like yeah you have to go. I’m like why are you kicking us out? You should be kicking him out. Also we didn’t start the situation. She’s like I don’t wanna hear it. Just get out. and the guy that was arguing with us was yeah great job Taylor great job. I didn’t wanna make the situation worse because my dad was so pale that I thought something was about to happen to him so we walked out. This led us to feel unfairly singled out and discriminated against. Taylor made no effort to address the situation calmly or to hear our side, and the decision to remove us appeared to be based on an unfair and possibly racial judgment. By the way, my parents have a handicap permit!!! Nobody needs to know why they’re using it. But I’m just going to throw it out there my brother had a stroke in April and he was in our truck!!!! This is just very sad and very upsetting! We are deeply concerned that this situation reflects a lack of professionalism and fairness. It is unacceptable that we were treated in such a manner, and we hope you will take immediate action to review your staff's behavior to ensure all customers are treated with equal respect and...

I was here this morning to pick up a sandwich with a simple request of no pulled pork because I'm allergic, & can't eat it. I put a note saying if they can substitute with chicken, but if not it was okay. I got a call from Taylor, & she was saying that they can't substitute so I said I used to work for the company & we would accommodate for allergies all the time, but it was fine & to just make it how I ordered it with no pork. So I get to the store, & she didnt have the sandwich made, so I told a worked named Sam I didn't want to speak with Taylor because I was very upset about how rude they were to me over the phone. I simply asked for the sandwich to be made without the pork & Taylor approached me after i asked her to just let the other employee take care of me, & she in a condescending tone started to repeat how she can't substitute, & i already made it clear that I wanted to just have my sandwich made without the pork like I asked on the phone. Taylor then said I could leave & i could get my refund, but I was late to work, & starving. I refused the refund & told her I would call the police, so I picked up the phone & dialed 911 & she did as well. Only problem was I didn't get my food or refund after explanation, I was put with a criminal trespassing, & almost arrested for this. Police told me to report this to the store because what she did wasn't right working in customer service. I then went to the potbelly website & reported the incident with a follow up. I get a call from potbelly thinking it's corporate, but it was Taylor calling me to harrass me, & say "you put in that report right? I'm the one who gets the report so nobody else is going tk find out about this, & she called me.out of my name using profanity, & then hung up. I used to be a manager at Evergreen Park, & i know I never treated a customer with an allergy or a simple accommodation as such or even after I said to just make it without the pork. You really can’t trust eating at restaurants especially chain restaurants . Last week I was so disturbed , had a lost of appetite, gag reflex , shocked and was disgusted after eating a sandwich I bought at potbelly in Oak Lawn on 95th street. When I arrived at the potbelly in oak lawn I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. The employee made the sandwich and handed it to me . When I got into my car I begin to eat the sandwich and actually ate half of sandwich munch munch when I realized the sandwich was falling apart and something seem like it was crawling out of it . To my grand Suprise and great disbelief when I opened the sandwich a COCKROACH was crawling out of the sandwich and was on the wrapper. I returned back to the store with the COCKROACH SANDWICH to speak to the GM and employee was giving no info she said “ there was nothing she couldn’t do “ plus she decline to give me info about the GM. She told me she was the manager on staff that I was to speak to her . She asked me “ Did you eat the CORCKROACH?” When my mom asked her if it was her what would she do ? She responded “Just pick it out .” That what pissed me totally out . I also asked for corporate and was given no info .
