Mellow Mushroom Wrightsville Beach — Restaurant in Wrightsville Beach

I don't normally do reviews, let alone a negative one. But we live in Raleigh and went to Wrightsville Bech for a day trip. Decided to stop at Mellow Mushroom on the way home. We waited over 20mins at our table before anyone even came to ask if if we'd been helped yet. Then another 10mins for the hostess to get some waters for us. The hostess apologigized for the wait and offered us a free appetizer. THANKS :) ...Then we continued to wait another 20mins for a waitress to finally take our order. Other people who came in after us had already gotten their food and left before we ever got our pizza....and then, when we got our check, we realized THEY CHARGED US for the "complementary" appetizer. We paid (only because, after 2 hrs there and still had a 2hr drive home, we really just needed to leave) and will NEVER go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We absolutely love every other Mellow Mushroom we've ever been to; but this one was TERRIBLE. The food was good but the staff was incompetent!!!! The waitress completely neglected us. She couldn't remember our order (although it looked like she was writing it down) and had to come back several time to ask about our order. Our waters stayed empty. I had to walk over to the bar to order a beer because I was so flipping thirsty! Other than taking our order, the only thing the waitress did was ask, "Does everything look good" after the food finally came (which she did not even bring to the table) and then "Can I get you a box." And then it took her forever to bring us the box and check. We had our payment out and ready...but continued to wait and wait. The time span of just waiting for food (one large pizza) & drinks was over an hour. My daughter is a server. And the amount of times that wait staff walked past us without looking at us, acknowledging us, or helping us was baffling. This experience was absolutely unacceptable! Unfortunately, nobody ever told us their names either. It was really as if we were being completely ignored. There were several other things too but I'm not going to sit here and completely nit-pick this experience apart. From a customer's and fellow server's view point, the entire wait staff at this establishment were unaware and inattentive. This was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We're soooooo glad to be out of there and driving...

TL;DR: Food and service was good, the staff didn't clean tables or their cooking spaces well enough. Positive experience overall.

So, my family and me walk in. There are only 3 other tables. Some of the workers are talking, others are doing prep work. Pretty usual scene for a pizza place. They let us choose a table. Half of them were extremely poorly cleaned. There was grime from previous meals as well as crumbs on most of the tables. We sat down at the high rise table. It was also extremely dirty. The workers were extremely apologetic and came to help. But when they helped, they didn't spray the table down they just wiped it down with watery rags. The waitress barely did anything to the stuff on the table. Clearly explaining why they were all so dirty in the first place. But from there everything was pretty good. The service was good as any other restaurant. The food was of the standard quality you'd expect from Mellow Mushroom. The one thing that was kind of odd is with our pepperoni and plain pizza we ordered, there was an olive under it? Like as if the pizza was baked over it. So yeah, my family and I all enjoyed the food, but I feel the workers should be better taught how to clean and to keep up with a standard to make sure these types of...

Huge fan of mellow mushroom here, stopped by this spot for lunch after the beach. Very quaint, I love how each location adjusts for the vibe of the surrounding neighborhood :). Food was excellent, absolutely LOVE the cloud 9 wings (they melt in your mouth), the only small issue was service.

There was maybe 2 other tables being used when we arrived. I placed my drink order and an order for some wings right when we sat down- 10 minutes later food order is placed. Somehow, people came in after us, were seated, and started receiving food before us. I'm sitting there starving wondering what's going on, and our server comes up and asks if we wanted any appetizers. I looked her straight in the eye and asked her what she considered our wing order to be? Somehow she said she made this an entree, and it would be coming out with the pizza we ordered. Mind you, if I wasn't starving this wouldn't have been a huge deal, but going on 30 minutes sitting, watching people who came in well after us get food before us was not okay.

The server apologized sure, but I just can't wrap my head around how braindead of a move it is to put a drink and wing order in as an entree when, without saying, it's obviously not.
