Tonight was our second time trying this restaurant, as I had wanted a place in this area to plan a ladies luncheon with about 40-50 women and had heard it was good. First of all you are met with the smell of burnt grease when walking in the door, then you notice how nice it looks And quickly forget the smell. I asked for some hot tea as had this the first time coming. My husband and I decided to split a dish and chose sesame chicken and our friend ordered sweet and sour chicken. Just after we ordered a horrible alarm went off numerous times inside the restaurant so the young girl I found out later was the manager said it was a emergency test. When our food arrived it was soggy and the chicken tasted as if it had been refrigerated and heated up. Our friends appeared to be fresh and crispy fried but they had forgot the sweet and sour sauce, by the time our waiter finally brought it her food was cold. When I told our waiter our food was bad he took my plate and asked if I would like something else. I asked if they had string bean chicken he said yes and would order it for me. He didn't take my husbands half as he had eaten most of it by doctoring it up with hot sauce. The young girl that had beed dealing with the alarm came to our table and said she was the manager and that I would have to pay for the dinner rate for my replacement food, so I refused. Then came the bill they pointed out that there was a 3.00 discount because they served us reheated leftovers that were terrible and took back half of them, then charged us 4.50 for a cup of...
Read moreI never go out of my way to write a negative review but in this case it’s warranted. I ordered some food online which was going to be picked up later that night. An hour prior to the pickup time, I knew I was running 15 minutes late so I gave them a courtesy call advising them I was going to be 15 minutes late. I showed up around that time and the food wasn’t ready. Keep in mind when I have ordered online in the past, they never have my food ready so I was a bit irritated this time around. The worker said it was almost done and after payment, she walked to the kitchen to get my order. I stood there for 10 minutes while all the other workers, who completely ignored me when I attempted to get their attention, ate their freshly prepared food. When the worker finally came back with my food, I had had enough and requested my money back. I explained to her that I had called them earlier telling them I was going to be late out of courtesy and I felt that it wasn’t returned. Her response was “it was only 10 minutes late” as she rolled her eyes. Yet, I stood my ground asking for my money back and also added that “my online orders he are never ready in past experiences.” She went back to the card machine, gave me the receipt showing cancellation, and yelled “you wasted all this food!” Looking back, I shouldn’t have been surprised; when I dine in Asian Star, the workers always appear to have some chip on their shoulder, like dining there is such an inconvenience to them. Don’t worry, I will no longer...
Read moreBeen here twice now. Seems to be a hit or miss in the food. The cashew chicken is phenomenal and the portions are nice. The soups. Not so much. First time I went, I got the egg drop soup. No flavor at all. Horrible flavor. Threw it out after about 5 bites. This time I ordered the Tom Ka soup. This soup is normally my favorite but this place doesnt seem to know how to make it. Worst tasting Tom Ka I’ve ever had in my life. Hardly any flavor and seems very watered down. Usually Tom Ka is made with coconut milk but this one came out orange. At first I thought it was a different order. It does have chciken, mushrooms and tomatoes in it. Not sure about onions, ginger or lemongrass. Found none in it and none of the flavors stood out. They also did mot use any lime juice or fish sauce in it which you have to have in it or it isnt Tom Ka. Red Curry paste is the secret ingredient that makes the soup and gives it so much flavor. This was definitely missing that. Extremely disappointed with the soup. I was really looking forward to it. I guess thats what you get for ordering Thai soups in a Chinese restaurant. Lol The service was off the charts great. The young girl at the front was so friendly and personal. She is a huge asset to the business. The atmosphere was also very nice and warm feeling. Food was the only problem I had with the place but thats a big part of it. Food is why we go to...
